Minor fixes for openssh-SNAP-20001028
I've attached a patch for openssh-SNAP-20001028 which fixes the following two problems: 1) I fixed fixpaths to complain instead of failing silently if it can't write the output file. 2) I changed log-server.c to use av0 as the first argument to openlog(). I also made sure it called openlog() before the TCP wrapper stuff, because libwrap calls syslog() and winds up using the

patch to add a PAMServiceName config option
I append a patch against openssh-3.5p1.tar.gz which adds a config option PAMServiceName. The option allows one to specify the PAM service at runtime in the config file rather than using __progname or having it hardwired to SSHD_PAM_SERVICE at compile time. I expect this to be useful if one wants to run multiple instances of sshd using different PAM configurations. With this patch

[PATCH] make pam service a settable option
This patch adds a config file option 'PAMService' that sets the PAM service sshd will use. It should leave the current behavior unchanged if PAMService is not set in the config file (i.e. use __progname for the service or SSHD_PAM_SERVICE if it's set at compile time). The patch is against the current portability release in CVS. Why would you want something like this? I have a machine

[PATCH] PamServiceNameAppend
Hello, Here's the situation I'm facing : I'm running OpenSSH on a server. On a gateway, I forward TCP:22 to the server TCP:22. So far, so good. I can log in from inside the lan by connecting using standard SSH port, or from the other network through the gateway. Now, I'd like a different configuration for connections from the outside. I start another SSHd on the

man pages screwed
Hi all. I just got openssh 2.5.1p1 and when I installed it, it's man pages doesn't seem to be formatted right. I'm on Solaris 8. Here is how it looks: man ssh Reformatting page. Makefile objdirs patch
I've attached a patch which fixes a minor Makefile glitch when building in a different directory than the source directory. The patch is relative to OpenSSH 2.3.0p1. Please let me know if you have any questions or problems. -- Mark D. PAM under AIX
I apologize in advance for this slightly-off-topic message, but I thought it would be of interest to those running OpenSSH under AIX... Earlier today, I submitted a patch to the Linux-PAM folks to port the library to AIX. The patch includes a pam_aix module to provide backward compatibility to the traditional AIX authentication methods. My main impetus for doing this is that I don't want to

keyboard-interactive
Is there a way for a PAM module to force a client (and the server) to use kbd-interactive? As far as I can tell, when in the INITIAL_LOGIN phase, all communication with the client returns a PAM_CONV_ERR. I am trying to write a PAM module that will prompt a user for a second username and a second password in order for the module to succeed so that proper authentication relies on the ability

patch for TIS (skey/opie) *and* passwd auth via PAM
Hello, appended is a patch that makes it possible to use PAM both for password authentication and TIS (i.e. s/key or opie or any other interactive challenge/response scheme). I have developed this starting from the patch at http://www.debian.org/Bugs/db/61/61906.html on Debian with openssh-2.1.1p4-3. After configuring ssh with --with-pam-tis, there are two PAM services, "sshd" and

To Do list...
This is just portable todo list. From the sounds of it Markus has his own to do list. But can everyone review and let me know if there is anything missing from this list. (Note.. I'm not looking for 'SSH should support XYZ feature.' unless it's directly related to portability.) Or if there is anything on this list that has been completed. (Namely Tru64 SIA support?) Thanks.

auth-pam.c support for pam_chauthtok()
When we installed OpenSSH 2.1.1p4 on our Solaris systems, our users noticed that it did not honor password expiration consistently with other Solaris login services. The patch below is against OpenSSH 2.2.0p1 and adds support for PAM password changes on expiration via pam_chauthtok(). A brief summary of changes: auth-pam.c: * change declaration of pamh to "static pam_handle_t *pamh",

Sendmail - block mail based on recipient address?
Maybe someone can help me sort this out. I want to block outbound mail from my network based upon the recipient address. Internal servers should still be allowed to send emails, but not to a few specific addresses. I've tried creating some rules in /etc/mail/access but to no avail. Is it possible to do this?

Fix for USE_POSIX_THREADS in auth-pam.c
As many of you know, OpenSSH 3.7.X, unlike previous versions, makes PAM authentication take place in a separate process or thread (launched from sshpam_init_ctx() in auth-pam.c). By default (if you don't define USE_POSIX_THREADS) the code "fork"s a separate process. Or if you define USE_POSIX_THREADS it will create a new thread (a second one, in addition to the primary thread). The

suggested bsd-setproctitle.c
Keven Steves, Can I suggest this minor change. To halt a bit of compiler grumble on BSD4.3 platforms. It's complaining about unsued variable "__progname". I wanted to check with you before committing it incase you had some other plans in mind (and I know how I hate when others break my code =).
