openssh-unix-dev@mindrot.org
Hello, I'm getting compile errors on AIX 5.1, not defining WITH_AIXAUTHENTICATE in config.h seems to solve the problem. I have configured with --syscondir=/etc/ssh and --with-ssl-dir=/usr/local/ssl and I am using gcc 2.95.3 The error messages is included below. Testing for the 4.4p1 release
Hi, The 4.4p1 release is approaching now, so we are now asking people to actively test snapshots or CVS and report back to the mailing list. Snapshots are available from http://www.mindrot.org/openssh_snap or from any of the mirrors listed on http://www.openssh.org/portable.html The latter page also includes instructions for checking out portable OpenSSH via anonymous CVS. AIX openssh patches
I have a few patches for AIX. The patchfile is attached below. The patch has been tested on AIX4.2 and AIX4.3. The patch is on openssh-1.2.1pre25, with openssl-0.94, using RSAref. 1) authenticate support - this function allows the system to determine authentification. Whatever the system allows for login, authenticate will too. It doesn't matter whether it is AFS, DFS, SecureID, local.

OpenSSH 2.3.0p1 port to BSDI BSD/OS
BSD/OS 4.2 comes with OpenSSH 2.1.1p4, patched to support BSDI's authentication library. However, BSDI's patches have several problems: 1. They don't run the approval phase, so they can allow users to login who aren't supposed to be able to. 2. They don't patch configure to automatically detect the BSDI auth system, so they're not ready to use in a general portable

AIX remote root logins
I am in the process of introducing OpenSSH into our corporate environment. This environment includes Solaris / HP-UX / AIX and Linux We have had audit tell us we need to disable root logins through telnet... we can do this through the use of OpenSSH on all platforms except AIX apparently bug # 383 was supposed to take care of this and I have downloaded -current snapshot and tested but remote

[PATCH] AIX password expiration
Hi All. With one eye on the do_pam_chauthtok() stuff I've merged contributions by Pablo Sor and Mark Pitt into a patch against -current. I'm interested in testers and suggestions for improvements. The patch extends the loginrestrictions test to include expired accounts (but unlike Mark's patch, doesn't log accounts with expired passwords unless they're locked) and adds

Security - ssh allows unintended access on AIX
Under AIX there are three security settings: expires = a fixed date at which an account is no longer valid maxage= weeks before a password expires maxexpires=max weeks during which a password can be changed by a user after expiration AFTER WHICH ACCESS IS NOT ALLOWED Beauty of maxage with expires is, that no manual intervention is required to block inactive users. With maxage=5 and expires=1 an

compilation problems AIX 5.2
I am having difficulties compiling openssh3.6p2 under AIX 5.2. I grabbed the latest from the contrib section from openssh.com, applied passexpire19.patch successfully and configure --prefix=/opt/freeware/ --with xauth=/usr/bin/X11/xauth. i get the following @ the end of the make: In file included from auth.c:41: /usr/include/usersec.h:656: warning: `struct aud_rec' declared inside parameter

2.2.1p1 / AIX 4.2.1.0.06 login nits
Hi. New (2.1.1p1) login code is nicer on AIX (4.2.1.0.06). Thanks. A couple of issues, though, which I haven't really dug into yet. I'm wondering if anyone else has seen them? If not, I'll investigate & report. 1. If I set "UseLogin" to "yes", everything seems fine except that the authentication agent forwarding doesn't work. The "SSH"

[2.1.1p4] utmp patch for SunOS 4.1.x
Follow-on to Charles Levert's <charles at comm.polymtl.ca> work on utmp_write_direct. Fixed: -- At logout, the utmp entry is cleared. Tested on SunOS 4.1.4. The code I added to loginrec.c is restricted to SUNOS4 pending QA testing on other platforms. This patch incorporates the work done by Charles Levert on 7/25/2000 00:43:22. (Do any of us sleep at

However, with the patch applied /etc/nologin isn't displayed to users (on AIX 5.1 / PSSP) The patched vesion seems to fail with "illegal user" - some parts of a debug 3 log... debug1: userauth-request for user ade45 service ssh-connection method none debug1: attempt 0 failures 0

auth*.c
Folks, During testing, we found a couple of issues with openssh3.0.2p1: 1. In userauth_finish() in auth2.c (as well as in do_authloop in auth1.c), the foll. check: if (authctxt->failures++ > AUTH_FAIL_MAX) is never satisfied and thus packet_disconnect() never gets called. I suspect the code just drops out of the dispatch_run function list instead. This should be an == instead of >.

Sending E-Mail from R
Hi, Has anyone used R to send out an email via an SMTP server? I run R from a script and would like to be able to send out an email from there also. I could shell out to an email program, but was hoping maybe someone had a package for R or a smooth way to do it. Thanks, Josh [[alternative HTML version deleted]]
