PATCH: Round 2: RH initscripts backward compatibility
I've cleaned up Pekka Savola's newly revised sshd.init and additional
sshd-functions and modified them to work they way i've been arguing
they should work.
Compatibility functions are defined in ./contrib/redhat/sshd-functions,
which should get installed no matter what release of Red Hat Linux
OpenSSH is getting built for, to be consistent across releases.

FIPS 140-2 OpenSSL(2007) patches
Hi,
I am happy to (re)send a set of patches for compiling OpenSSH 4.7p1 with
FIPS 140-2 OpenSSL.
These are based on previously reported patches by Steve Marquess
<marquess at ieee.org> and Ben Laurie <ben at algroup.co.uk>,
for ver. OpenSSH 3.8.
Note that these patches are NOT OFFICIAL, and MAY be used freely by
anyone.

Running two sshd's
Hi all,
I'm wondering whether it is feasible or not to run two distinct sshd
daemons with different config options!
I have a CentOS 4.4 gateway with 2 Ethernet interfaces. One is
connected to the Internet and the other to the LAN.
Basically, what I would like to do is having a sshd that listens to
the LAN interface with password enabled auth. and a sshd bound to the
Internet interface with

PATCH: OpenSSH RPM spec file problems
Hello all,
There are two issues in OpenSSH RPM Red Hat spec file (against 2.2.0p1):
1. /etc/rc.d/init.d/sshd uses 'success' and 'failure'. These don't work
in Red Hat 5.2; else the spec file is fine. Initscripts requirement (for
the one in RH60) added.
2. If you're upgrading over SSH ltd's ssh-server, the server will be
stopped and sshd removed from chkconfig

RedHat sshd.init script typo ?
Hi,
I noticed one small possible error in the
openssh-2.3.0p1/contrib/redhat/sshd.init script.
In the stop option:

OpenSSH-1.12pre15: PATCH: packages/redhat/sshd.init
The ChangeLog indicates:

[...]
- Revised Redhat initscript to fix bug: sshd (re)start would fail
if executed from inside a ssh login.
Unfortunately, the changes made to the init script make it no longer
work on a Red Hat Linux 4.x or 5.x system, which doesn't use the
`success' or `failure' functions available in Red Hat Linux 6.x.
The attached patch enables

OpenSSH private key encryption: time for AES?
Hi, all.
So, in reviewing my OpenSSH keypairs and evaluating the size my RSA keys
should be, i realized that, if i update my 2048-bit keypairs to 4096
bits, it really doesn't matter that much, because they're still
only encrypted with 3DES, which provides an effective 112 bits of
symmetric encryption strength:
$ head -4 ~/.ssh/id_rsa

OpenSSH-1.12pre17: PATCH: Red Hat PAM limits
With the sshd in recent releases of OpenSSH, some Red Hat Linux systems
complain about ulimit trying to raise a limit when logging in via ssh.
The problem is that packages/redhat/sshd.pam doesn't do limit checking
for an sshd session.
The attached patch adds the pam_limits module to the sshd session,
which checks for limits set in /etc/security/limits.conf.
This works on Red Hat Linux 5.2
