sftp
Yo All!
I understand why we do not have sftp in openssh, but it would be nice
if we could make it so that when an SSH.COM scp2 client makes a connection
to an OpenSSH V2 daemon that it does not hang....
Any ideas or do I need to dig a bit on this?
Here is what the sshd says when I conenct to it from scp2:
debug: session_open: session 0: link with channel 0
debug: confirm session

New snapshot
I have just uploaded a new snapshot to:
http://www.mindrot.org/misc/openssh/openssh-SNAP-20001114.tar.gz
This snapshot includes Markus Friedl's new SSH2 RSA authentication work
and -R portforwarding for SSH2. Please give these a good test.
The new RSA authentications works similar to the current SSH2 DSA keys,
but requires a little modification to config files. Currently RSA

IPv6 support in OpenBSD CVS
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

A couple of days ago, Markus Friedl merged IPv6 support into the
OpenBSD CVS tree. This is a welcome addition, but it presents a few
potential problems for the port.
The main problem is the lack IPv6 support in most Unices. OpenBSD has
it, as do recent versions of NetBSD (presumably), Solaris and Linux
but others may not.
This could be worked

OpenSSH 3.7 released
OpenSSH 3.7 has just been released. It will be available from the
mirrors listed at http://www.openssh.com/ shortly.
OpenSSH is a 100% complete SSH protocol version 1.3, 1.5 and 2.0
implementation and includes sftp client and server support.
We would like to thank the OpenSSH community for their continued
support to the project, especially those who contributed source and

ssh hang on wrong port - is it a bug ?
Hi,
ssh client program seems to hang when specified a wrong port no (port on
which some other server, like telnetd is running).
"netstat -an" shows the connection is established.
I expect the ssh program to report invalid server msg and exit.
Is this a bug or known behaviour ???
I have attached the -v -v -v output.
Thanks,
Hari

openssh-1.2.1pre24 on SCO
Yo All!
Sorry if this is obvious but I am new to openssh. I have used the
original ssh for a while and am familiar with it (and it's
restrictive license).
I am trying to port openssh-1.2.1pre24 on to SCO UnixWare 7.1.0. I
will post the small patches when it is really running.
Two problems, SCO has no /dev/random so I installed egd-0.6. It
usually works but sometimes dies. I have sent

configure: error: Could not find working SSLeay / OpenSSL libraries
Hi,
I've built and installed the openssl-0.9.1c package but openssh-2.1.1p1
configure can't apparently 'see' the package. I've tried adding the install
directory to LD_LIBRARY_PATH, using CFLAGS, LDFLAGS, LIBS etc. The 'missing'
rand.h is present n the included path shown in the config.log output below.
What am I missing? Any help would be very much appreciated.

unrequired headers (looping affect in NeXT)
In bsd-login.[hc] and login.c seems to have #include <utmp.h> that
are unneeded (and platforms with non-protected headers files trips on
them.)
Could I get a few people on different platforms remove them and see
if they cause any compiling issues it would make my life easier (and
less required #ifdef grabage).
bsd-login.c:52:#include <utmp.h>
bsd-login.h:7:#include <utmp.h>

TEST RELEASE: 1.2.3pre5
Yeat another test release. This fixes a few problems that were
reported in the last 24 hours.
One security problem fixed by this release is the braindead linking
behaviour of AIX's ld. In their infinite wisdom, IBM decided to make
the -L linker flag specify /runtime/ link paths. This could allow
someone to substitute a modified shared library to a suid program.
For gory details, have a look

[PATCH] OpenSSH 2.1.1pl3 (portable), readconf.c and strsep(3)
The latest changes (replacing strtok with strsep) in OpenSSH's readconf.c
broke many ~/.ssh/config files. Actually those which uses more than one
whitespace character to separate keyword and value.
For instance my ~/.ssh/config file reads:
| BatchMode no
| Compression yes
| CompressionLevel 3
| FallBackToRsh no
| UsePrivilegedPort no
| ForwardX11

sftp
Hi,
What is the status on sftp ? People here who are not familiar with "command
line ftp" would like to use the new spiffy graphical sftp provided with
ssh.com new NT client.
As we are planning on replacing all our sshd with openssh, we need sftpd as
well.
Thanks,
Emmanuel
