More [A tangent on RC5] Cryptography patents (was: openssl lib question.)
I hate following up to myself, but
I thought a clarification of one
point (specifically WRT RC5 which
was mentioned in the original question)
might be worthwhile...because what
I should have said originally was
that "To the best of my non-legally-
admissible knowledge, however, none

ssh-agent add PKCS#11 support
Hello,
PKCS#11 is a standard API interface that can be used in
order to access cryptographic tokens. You can find the
specification at
http://www.rsasecurity.com/rsalabs/node.asp?id=2133, most
smartcard and other cryptographic device vendors support
PKCS#11, opensc also provides PKCS#11 interface.
I can easily make the scard.c, scard-opensc.c and
ssh-agent.c support PKCS#11.
PKCS#11 is

Cryptography Library for C/C++
I need to use a cryptography library extension for C/C++ and I'd like to know if anyone can tell me wich one on ports collection is better (the most complete and "easy" to use).
Is there anyway to use MIRACL on FreeBSD(and how)?

discussion about keystroke timing attacks against SSH on the cryptography ML
Hi folks.
FYI:
There's a discussion[0] about keystroke timing attacks against SSH going
on on the cryptography mailing list.
Would be interesting to hear the opinion of some OpenSSH folks what
SSH/OpenSSH is doing against this and what could maybe be don in
addition.
Especially since the main idea behind the attack is obviously not
limited to the initial authentication phase when a password

samba4.1.2: Allow cryptography algorithms compatible with Windows NT 4.0
Hi all,
while fiddling with VmWare View without being able to join windows7
client to samba4 domain, we stumbled on the following article:
http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1028164
which says, should we run MS Windows 2008R2 AD, we should enable the

Strong cryptography for Kerberos available?
If I query the AD DC I see:
root at samba4:/# ldapsearch -H ldap://samba.ad.microsult.de -Y GSSAPI
'(sAMAccountName=mgr)'
SASL/GSSAPI authentication started
SASL username: Administrator at AD.MICROSULT.DE
SASL SSF: 56
SASL data security layer installed.
I would like to see SASL SSF: 112. Does anyone know whether and where
this can be configured?
Regards,
- lars.

RE: Fwd: [Cryptography] Why aren’t we using SSH for everything?
Damien,
What is the best document to use for documentation on SFTP? In other words, if I want to build an SFTP client library based on libssh.a, is there documentation about the series of messages I need to send over the wire?
Thanks,
ScottN

Patches to report rsaref build and to call pam_setcred
I've attached two patches. The first just changes the output of "ssh -V"
to print that it was built against rsaref if libRSAglue (which is built
as part of openssl only when it is built against rsaref) is present at
build-time. The second adds appropriate calls to pam_setcred() in sshd.
Without them, our systems can't access AFS because the PAM modules only
get tokens at a

Patents
I suppose it could be possible to patent something and
let the patent expire so that it is registered at the
patent office but not enforcable. No one else could
patent it then.
I get curious about the RLE patent. I heard Someone
has a patent on run length encoding and I wonder how
long they have had it because I remember RLE code
running on a sinclair spectrum in the 80's before the
