Patch for unformatted manpages
The attached patch (relative to the current CVS snapshot) uses a perl
script to convert the OpenSSH manpages from the BSD -mdoc format to
the -man format used by other systems. This allows the unformatted
manpages to be installed normally, rather than defaulting to
preformatted pages.
I'd like to see this patch integrated into the portable version of
OpenSSH. Please let me know what you

SCO Openserver Patch
I downloaded the Openssh-2.3.0p1 file and ran configure only to have it
fail reporting the lack of libz. I found that configure was failing
beacuse the test program did not include the libtinfo and libm which are
needed to resolve references in libprot. I made changes to the configure
script to add those libraries for SCO Openserver and then tried to compile
the programs only to run into another

line_abbrevname patch
Once upon a time there were two places in the loginrec code that were
ifdef'd sgi and which stripped the "tty" off the line along with the
"dev" when recording utmp. (Specifically it was being done in
line_stripname and line_abbrevname.) Doing that in line_stripname was
wrong, because it broke things like wall that expected the ut_line to
have the "tty" present.

[patch] 3.7.1p2: slogin symlink fixes
Hello,
There are three small problems with the "slogin" and "slogin.1" symlinks
created upon installation:
1. "./" is included in the target path unnecessarily.
2. Symlinks are assumed to be available, while only hardlinks could.
3. EXEEXT is not respected for slogin.
Here is a fix for both problems -- the "./" is simply removed, EXEEXT is
added, the

AIX and 2.1.1p1
The new login code works fine with AIX 4.3. Two nits, though. If
--disable-lastlog is defined, the code still tries to slog through wtmp
to determine the last login time. Is this a bug or a feature? If a
feature, change the DISABLE_LASTLOG test below to WITH_AIXAUTHENTICATE.
Also, a small typo in configure.in, plus an AIX tweak.

[2.1.1p4] utmp patch for SunOS 4.1.x
Follow-on to Charles Levert's <charles at comm.polymtl.ca> work on
utmp_write_direct.
Fixed:
-- At logout, the utmp entry is cleared. Tested on SunOS 4.1.4.
The code I added to loginrec.c is restricted to SUNOS4 pending
QA testing on other platforms.
This patch incorporates the work done by Charles Levert on

configure.in reorder patch
Feb 12 CVS (sort of, see warning below)
I've had to change around some of the code in configure.in
to get some platforms to compile with the --with-tcp-wrappers option.
Basicly I have set it up to
check headers
check system libraries
check for optional packages
check functions
I have also tried to clean up the library order as it is important
on some platforms.
This patch works on

2.2.1p1 / AIX 4.2.1.0.06 login nits
Hi.
New (2.1.1p1) login code is nicer on AIX (4.2.1.0.06). Thanks.
A couple of issues, though, which I haven't really dug into yet. I'm
wondering if anyone else has seen them? If not, I'll investigate &
report.
1. If I set "UseLogin" to "yes", everything seems fine except that
the authentication agent forwarding doesn't work. The "SSH"

Fixed:
-- On systems such as SunOS4 where the system include files

these.
-- Might as well put in the usual location for SunOS4.

was not done correctly.

Irix job limits patch
I've finished the 2.3 patch for Irix job limits. It's a bit longer than
a couple of lines. The bulk of the patch changes the configuration files to
enable the job limits support on Irix. The meat of the change is in
session.c where the new job containter is created at the same point as the
other Irix specific actions.

patch for "gone - no logout" output from last(1)
Greetings,
After upgrading one of my systems to the linux 2.6.4 kernel, it started
having problems recording the logout entries in the wtmp file. I traced
this to a bug in loginrec.c, where a variable (line) is declared as an
array of 8 characters. This length is substantially shorter than the 16
character array size of ut_line, so openssh effectively truncates the
pseudo-tty name when the

program-prefix does not work
the configure option --program-prefix does not work although it is
listed in teh configure --help output.
The attached patch fixes these issues:
1) program prefix is not substituted in configure
2) program prefix is not present in Makefile
3) scp requires use of a known "scp" program

PATCH: Makefile.in more upgrade friendly.
Hello again,
In my constant recompiles of 2.9p1 and 2.9p2, I've noticed that
upgrading a current installation with a test compile leads to tons
of files being updated even when they don't need to be.
The attached patch for Makefile.in splits the install-files target
into a bunch of serparate targets: install-dirs, install-prog,
install-man, install-conf, which are then all called in

Lets try this push again.. 2.5.1p2 bugs left.
Things that are still outstanding:
1) Solaris/Redhat/HPUX session.c patch. I've not seen a ya or na on
Kevin's pam patch from the Solaris group.
2) Odd Redhat/Debian scp/ssh issues. .. I'm baffled, and I can't
replicate the bug. Nor have I seen anything remotely like it reported.
3) SCO.. Is it happy yet for compiling? =)

snapshot: ssh-keyscan problems
Hello all,
Tested the latest snapshot. ssh-keyscan seems to have gone in. :)
Two issues about it (patched):
1) the man pages aren't installed, only uninstalled
2) RH spec file (and the others no doubt..) won't include it.
General observations: for RSA keys only?, kinda obsoletes
contrib/make-ssh-known-hosts*.

Where is OpenSSH 2.5.0p1?
Hi,
it seems the 2.5.0p1 announcement on www.openssh.com went out a little
bit too early ;). Just curious, why 2.4 was skipped? I don't believe
this is just to have a higher version number than the competition ;).
I see 2.5.0 is there, but no 2.5.0p1 yet even on ftp.openbsd.org itself.
Looking at the CVS tree, I see the two bugs I reported to this list
some time ago (with no response) are
