forum to discuss problems
Please tell me where I can ask questions on ssh's use. I installed openssh on two Linux boxes, one is RedHat 6.0 the other is RedHat 6.1. I used the rpms at ftp://thermo.stat.ncsu.edu/pub/openssh-usa/ I used the us versions, and I touched no config files whatsoever. >From one machine, I have no problems connecting to the other machine, but does not work the other way around. spec file
I have looked into the spec file for the openssh rpm. In the %preun stanza, I noticed that the currently running sshd is stopped only when removing the package. On the other hand, it is theoretically possible that a new version of openssh may install files which would make the old sshd misbehave. So I think, it is better to stop sshd every time the package is upgraded. Also, the %post stanza

A few more Solaris 7 bugs in 1.2.3pre2
These are all in the port of 1.2.3pre2: - configure accepts --includedir, but doesn't seem to pass it on to the Makefile. You have to edit the Makefile manually if you have include files anywhere but /usr/include. Which is a problem because... - The Makefile doesn't include /usr/local/include by default, which is where zlib installs itself by default. Probably oughta be in there.

Hi, I must have missed something; it seems that all messages sent to the ssh list get forwarded to the openssh list. Thx Mate -- --- Mate Wierdl | Dept. of Math. Sciences | University of Memphis

allow_nets based on RBL
This was brought up in 2014, and left without conclusion, so I thought it would be time to bump it :) I would love a way to do allow_nets based on an RBL check, could this be added to the feature-list? https://wiki2.dovecot.org/PasswordDatabase/ExtraFields/AllowNets Thanks -- Tom

dns cache rbl lists?
No idea where else to ask this and get a real qualified answer but here. Not exactly pure centos question....but... I am adding blacklists to my postfix smtpd settings. I have the inkling that after the first lookup for a domain or ip that my dns caches the result and I no longer bother the RBL or RHSBL list owners anymore in that instance. Is that correct? I hate to waste their resources if

Postfix and choice of RBL
Hi, I'm managing several mail servers running CentOS 7, Postfix and Dovecot. SpamAssassin is filtering mail nicely, but I'm considering using RBL (blacklists) to take some load off the servers. General question to those of you who use RBL. Which lists do you recommend using? Cheers, Niki -- Microlinux - Solutions informatiques durables 7, place de l'?glise - 30730 Montpezat Site :

Odd Feature Request - RBL blacklist lookup to prevent authentication
I would like to have a list of IPs (hacker list) that I can do a lookup on so that if anyone tries to authenticate to dovecot they always fail if they are on my list. I have the list - and the list is available as a DNS blacklist. I'd like to have it work with both local IP lists or RBL lookup. The idea is so hackers from known IP addresses never succeed. If Dovecot provides the feature

Applying a DNS RBL to deny authentication?
Hope to get some attention about this idea to reduce hacking passwords. Here is a list of about 700,000 IP addresses that are hacking passwords through SMTP AUTH http://ipadmin.junkemailfilter.com/auth-hack.txt This is a list of IP addresses that attempted to authenticate against my fake AUTH advertizing on servers with no authentication.
