2.5.1p1 ssh-agent path problem in Solaris
I'm having a path problem with OpenSSH 2.5.1p1 in Solaris (7). When
ssh-agent is run, environment variables aren't being passed to the

[RFC][PATCH v2] Support a list of sockets on SSH_AUTH_SOCK
The idea behind this change is to add support for different "ssh-agents"
being able to run at the same time. It does not change the current
behaviour of the ssh-agent (which will set SSH_AUTH_SOCK just for
itself). Neither does it change the behaviour of SSH_AGENT_PID (which
still supports only one pid).
The new implementation will go through the list of sockets (which are

openssh 2.2.0p1 fails with openssl 0.9.6-beta1

I did some more experiments and also saw the problems.
They occur when using a 0.9.6-beta client to connect to 0.9.5a and 0.9.6-beta
servers.
They also occur when using a 0.9.5a client connecting to a 0.9.6-beta
server.

OpenSSH 2.2.0p1 doesn't detect OpenSSL
Hi all:
I'm trying to compile OpenSSH 2.2.0p1 on an Origin 2000 running Irix
6.5.9 and when I run ./configure it didn't detect the OpenSSL libraries.
I compile/install OpenSSL 0.9.6. The installation was done using prefix
/usr/local/ssl. I test the binaries and they are working fine. Then,
when I try to configure the Openssh

SSH connection hang after upgrade
I recently had to upgrade my version of OpenSSH from 4.7 to 5.0p1 on my
MacBook (Darwin). I installed the latest 'portable' tarball and
removed the system version:
$ ssh -V
OpenSSH_5.0p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7l 28 Sep 2006
$ which ssh
/usr/bin/ssh
sshd is the same version, installed in /usr/sbin/sshd. Now, things are
a bit broken: I am able to ssh from another machine into my MacBook,

v2v: error while killing ssh-agent after importing VM via xen+ssh
Hi,
I am successfully importing VM from Xen server at oVirt project via virt-v2v.
I am setting ssh-agent and running ssh-add before the import process,
after the import done I am trying to kill the agent via:
ssh-agent -k (and setting the SSH_AGENT_PID environment), but I get the
following error:
kill: No such process
Can you please explain why there is no agent?
Do I need to delete the agent?

[Bug 500] show how to start-up ssh-agent by default...
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500
------- Additional Comments From djm at mindrot.org 2003-02-24 12:43 -------
I think that:
[ -z "$SSH_AUTH_SOCK" ] && eval `ssh-agent -s`
[ -z "$SSH_AGENT_PID" ] || ssh-add -l >/dev/null 2>&1 || ssh-add
Is as effective and a lot more concise.
On the other hand, fragile heuristics like:

sudo (+ldap+kerberos) not accepting password
So I have this centos 5.10 box which authenticates network users
against ldap(authorizing)+kerberos(authentication). And I now would
like to have sudo be able to allow admins (netgroup chinbeards) to
sudo about. I am not using sssd though (yet).
Here is the output of me trying sudo (debug on):

[Lutz.Jaenicke@aet.TU-Cottbus.DE: 2.9p1: HP-UX 10.20 utmp/wtmp handling broken?]
Hi!
I am resending the following message about problems with utmp handling.
* In the meantime I had some request in private mail from people asking
whether I have new information.
* The problem is still persistant in 2.9p2.
* My own new investigations show, that the problem only appears with
protocol 2, not with protocol 1, I therefore only started to note it
when protocol 2 became the

ssh-agent, protocol 2, openssh-2.3.0p1
Hi --
I saw an email on December 26th in the openssh-unix-dev mailing list
archived on MARC, indicating that agent forwarding is indeed not working
for 2.2, but that it is working for 2.3. That email referred to a user
with 2.3 clients and 2.2 server. I am running the 2.3 client AND server
and am having a similar problem. The only unusual aspect of my installation
is that I'm using port 24

Upgraded to 2.9p1 with no luck..
Howdy,
After upgrading to 2.9 (OpenSSH_2.9p1, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL
0x0090600f)
I'm unable to ssh between two systems any more (the two that I've upgraded).
I've recompiled from the original source several times, each time with no
errors,
regenerated host keys, regenerated client keys (using rsa), etc., to no
avail.
Below are some relevant snippets of debugging output

Open connections when using agent-forwarding
Hi!
I have problems with connections being left open with both 2.2.0p1 and the
latest snapshot when using agent-forwarding. (I didn't use this with older
versions, so I don't know whether this problem is older.)
Scenario:
I have a secret key that I run with ssh-agent on host "host-A". I then connect
to "host-B" using 'slogin -A host-B'. When executing a

ssh-agent and id_dsa
Hi!
I am distributing 2.5.1p1 for production use on my system by now and prepare
switching to protocol 2 as default protocol.
I just noted, that ssh-agent can be used for protocol 1 and 2, but the
keys kept in ssh-agent are not compared against keys in .ssh.
Example: I have a DSA key in id_dsa which I load into ssh-agent on login.
When connecting to an account accepting the key everything is

success on SCO5
Hi all,
I'm not on the list but I thought it might interest some of you to know that
openssh 2.2.0p1 compiles quite well under sco5. Although not right out of the
box. I'm not using gcc on those platforms, so I had to change the call to
gettimeofday() because the sco cc want only one of the two arguments (SCO
doesn't care with timezone). So I had to modify those files to get it work:

issue with EGD in openssh
There are a couple of issues regarding egd support in OpenSSH.
1) SIGPIPE is not ignored for the master listener daemon. I put
the signal() call early on since it needs to be before
get_random_bytes() is called but it could also be placed in the
EGD version of get_random_bytes(). For some reason, with prngd
I am getting SIGPIPE even though the prngd processes is not
dying.

fatal: Not enough entropy in RNG
Hi,
I'm running openssh 2.1.1p4 on Solaris 7 (sparc). Occationally, when I
boot up the server, the startup script I wrote to start sshd fails to start
sshd with the following error:
fatal: Not enough entropy in RNG
What am I doing wrong??
Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?
Is just restarting sshd a valid thing to do??
Thanks for any thoughts,

scp not shutting down in 2.1.1p4
Hi!
as I just noted, after scp the connection does not shut down properly.
When I do a "scp file targethost:path", on targethost a "sshd" process is
left running. I do use
--with-default-path="/usr/local/openssh/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin"
to assure, that the corrensponding openssh-scp is used.
It also seems, that normal sessions are not always closed properly.
