Installing Java 1.4.2
For scalix on Centos the Scalix forum provides instructions for convincing Scalix that Centos is Redhat: http://www.scalix.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=516&highlight=centos I am up to the point of getting Java JDK1.4.2 installed. I did a: yum list|grep "java" and got: gcc-java.i386 3.4.4-2 installed java-1.4.2-gcj-compat.noarch

Replacing my Scalix mail server
I really need to either upgrade my Scalix server or replace it. It has to be: Free Integrated with anti-spam IPv6 support optional anti-virus (processing concerns) I don't have to be able to port mail from the Scalix to the new server. Everyone can just POP their mail. I have read a bit about Zimbra, it comes as a tar for rhel 5. No rpm that I can find. I also found SME, I have a LOT

Where is perl-spamassassin for Centos 5?
I am looking for it..... I need it (according to the docs) for Scalix 11. And their docs say it is included in SuSE, but it does not seem to be in Centos 5. And I think I had it for a Centos 4 system.

Samba and Scalix
I'm hoping to integrate a shared folder(s) so that we may be able to drag and drop files from various OSs into a shared folder on a CentOS server which can be accessed via Scalix SWA or some other email client. Maybe I'm totally off base with how Scalix stores files in public folders... maybe everything has to be in mbox format for all folders and this could never work..... Anyway, I

Scalix install on CentOS
Hey All, I read on the list here not to long ago a work around for the following error on CentOS for installing the scalix mail server... Error: unsupported OS release: CentOS release 4.2 (Final) on x86_64 Someone posted a fix where you could edit a file changing the name of the OS or something to fix this. Anyone remember which file it was I could edit and what I needed to edit it too

Zimbra vs. Scalix vs. et. al.
Well, I stumbled onto zimbra.... I have a Scallix system built, but still have some rough edges to try to smooth. Like the way it works with sendmail, no dnsbl's will work as sendmail sees all mail as coming from locohost (scalix). Still battling that one which is when I ran across Zimbra. So, this made me start wondering. Are there other exchange server-like products out there? Has

Zimbra, Scalix or something else..
Hello all, I've played with both Zimbra and Scalix and they seem quite nice and do pretty much what I want. I'm now at the point where I am considering retiring my trusty old courier-imap service in favour of one of these two, unless of course anyone has any other recommendations or suggestions. I'd probably be doing this inside a centos 4.4 Xen VMs running on centos 5 when it comes

Centos 5.2 Install - lvcreate failed for ...
!st install of 5.2; system requires custom partitioning (Scalix mail server). Boot and Swap are hard partitions, rest of drive is LVM. In LVM, three ext3 partitions: /, /home, /var/opt/scalix lvcreate failed for the last (named Scalix_02). It was the last of the three partitions and used up the remainder of the LVM space. Now 'The Installer will now exit..." And all there is is a

Mail Server Install
Hi Friends, I am planning to upgrade my mail server from CentOS4.5 to CentOS5. By this, I also planned to replace my postfix mail server with Scalix although the community edition limit me to just 25 premium user, I think it is suffice for us with the remaining user as standard user (with approx. <> 100 users total). Is there a catch on using Scalix based on your experience. I see that

Help in starting spamassassin
I have installed spamassassin, per the instructions on Scalix's wiki, and it is working, with some important caviats. So I asked for help on the spamassassin user list, and got some, but I think I am butting up against some Centos specific issues... This is what I am seeing in the maillog: Aug 17 14:39:59 z9m9z sendmail[13082]: l7HIdvGf013082: Milter add: header: X-Spam-Checker-Version:

Telling software system really has 512Mb memory
I am stuck in my Scalix install. It checks for 512Mb memory. At some point I am suppose to get the extra memory, but for now I am stuck at 256Mb. Is there some system value that I can set so that the installer is led to believe there is 512Mb of memory, so I can at least get this stuff installed?

Chrony vd NTP
I have read: http://thegeekdiary.com/centos-rhel-7-chrony-vs-ntp-differences-between-ntpd-and-chronyd/ My server is up all the time and will serve time to internal systems (via DHCP options). Caveat is that my server is an armv7 (Cubieboard2) which does not have an RTC (no battery). So whenever the system boots, the time is ZERO (Dec 31, 1969 or some such). Chrony fixes this really fast;

sernet documentation
I've been using bind9 and DHCP on Samba 4.1.0 thru 4.1.17 and Slackware 64 14.1 for many months now in a production environment and it works just fine. There are a few tweaks here and there to get bind/dhcp to play nicely with Samba ... Note, conf file locations are Slackware, but you'll know where the same thing goes in your distro. In the examples below, my Domain IP range is

Does Redhat have a list of changed packages in 5.1?
The information at: http://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes/CentOS5.1 is great. Does RH have something that shows what has changed with them from 5.0 to 5.1? So far I have only found: http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-5.1-Manual/manual/doc000.html Like what release of Firefox, etc.
