RhostsAuthentication + nondefault port doesn't work?
Hello all,
It seems that RhostsAuthentication does not work on non-default port no
matter what when connecting from OpenSSH (2.1.1, 2.2.0 tried) either with
protocol 1 or protocol 2 (shouldn't work either..).
_However_ when connecting with SSH.COM Ltd's ssh, RhostsAuthentication
works just fine!
Checking the port number of ssh client you can see that OpenSSH doesn't

OpenSSL + OpenSSH version problems
Hello all,
OpenSSL 0.9.5a and 0.9.6 are incompatible, causing weird errors.
I'd like to get a check for this in the RPMs.
However, now I want to make sure whether anyone has experienced problems
with RHL 0.9.5a OpenSSL libs vs. the 0.9.5a ones provided at openbsd.org?
Ie: is it enough to check like '= 0.9.5a' or do you have to check '=
0.9.5a-xyz'.

[PATCH]: openssh.spec file for SuSE 6.4 & 7.0
Attached is a spec file for OpenSSH on SuSE 6.4 and 7.0 systems.
It differs from the current spec file in the following details:
- Only one rpm file is created containing client and server files.
- PreReq `openssl-devel' is changed to `openssl'.
- Path '/usr/libexec/ssh' is changed to '/usr/lib/ssh' for
ssh-askpass and gnome-ssh-askpass.

Howto change arch for FirebirdSS rpm
Hello
I have this problem:
I make my own php rpms, base on src.rpm from CentOS but with my patches
(more options included).
I have built it on my machine originally but now I want make it in mock
environment. I solved almost everything but Firebird support for 64bit
arch. Original RPM from http://www.firebirdsql.org/ are made with amd64

contrib/redhat/openssh.spec question
I have a couple of questions regarding openssh.spec and the rpm that
gets generated from it. I am using 2.3.0p1
1. Why is openssl a prereq? openssh statically links to openssl during
build by default (rightfully so, you don't want your security library a
shared object if possible)
2. I don't understand the following line in the spec file during the
install step (it makes it not build for

Small patch for RPM spec file (kerberos)
I decided to try openssh 3.3p1 on my Mandrake box that's lacking a
complete install of kerberos. Installed the SRPM, ran rpm -bb
openssh.spec and it bombed. Made it through the configure stage and
moved onto compilation, where it barfed because it couldn't find the
kerberos headers (I had krb5-libs installed, but not krb5-devel).
Attached is a small little patch to the spec file to add

PATCH: Round 2: RH initscripts backward compatibility
I've cleaned up Pekka Savola's newly revised sshd.init and additional
sshd-functions and modified them to work they way i've been arguing
they should work.
Compatibility functions are defined in ./contrib/redhat/sshd-functions,
which should get installed no matter what release of Red Hat Linux
OpenSSH is getting built for, to be consistent across releases.

Please Help! Re: Using smbpasswd (fwd)
I am trying to get encrypted passwords working for a Linux/Samba server
serving Win9x clients. We want the students to be able to logon either
the Samba file system or the Linux server and allow the students to
change their password from either. I would really appreciate any help
on this matter. We need to get this working as quickly as possible as
the old Netware server is on life support.

build postfix spec w/ mysql
hello list!
I am attempting to build an rpm of postfix that includes support for mysql. I've done this before with earlier versions on postfix but I am staring at this spec file until my eyes bleed and I just don't see why when I build the spec with rpmbuild mysql support isn't there.
After I install the rpm I have a look at the modules as such:
ldd $(which postfix) | grep -i

AllowHosts support in sshd missing.
Hello all,
I just noticed that AllowHosts feature of SSH Inc's sshd isn't there in
OpenSSH yet.
Has anyone been working on this? Am I the only one that seems to miss
this feature?
AllowUsers and AllowGroups is a very nice feature though :)

Irix: PRNG initialization failed
Hello all,
I tried OpenSSH versions 2.1.1p4, 2.2.0p1 and the latest snapshot briefly
on 64-bit Irix 6.5.7f an 6.5.9m.
Both times, no matter what I do, I'll get 'PRNG initialization failed
-- exiting'. This happens with ssh-keygen (the keys aren't even generated
yet, ssh binary etc.)
It's clear that Irix etc. don't have a proper entropy pool like *BSD and
Linux do, but
