make distprep broken?
Hello All, Doing a make distprep doesn't seem to work anymore: $ make -f Makefile.in distprep make: @SH@: Command not found make: *** [catman-do] Error 127 I've seen this on AIX & Redhat (gnu make) and Solaris (native make). I suspect this occurs on most platforms. Is this still the recommended way of autoreconf'ing CVS releases for building? -Daz.

Where is OpenSSH 2.5.0p1?
Hi, it seems the 2.5.0p1 announcement on www.openssh.com went out a little bit too early ;). Just curious, why 2.4 was skipped? I don't believe this is just to have a higher version number than the competition ;). I see 2.5.0 is there, but no 2.5.0p1 yet even on ftp.openbsd.org itself. Looking at the CVS tree, I see the two bugs I reported to this list some time ago (with no response) are

At this point the main holdup is Solaris. I have

Filter files received on scp server
Hey, So, I would be looking at type A. Forgive me if my understanding of how OpenSSH operates is not reflective of reality. I am assuming that, the file transfer is happening somewhat logically, with a name being known, content written, blah blah. >From reading scp.c, it appears that, the client end at least knows the file name so I must assume the server end must be given it. [PATCH 0/4] usr/kinit checkpatch
Various coding style fixes checkpatch warns about. The goal is not to be 100% checkpatch compliant, but to have more consistent coding style. As this is a trivial patch serie, will land in 24 hours in klibc git, unless of course ml review hits a bugger. Checked with size(3) that the generated kinit, fstype, ipconfig and nfsmount are the same. maximilian attems (4): [klibc] ipconfig: reduce

[PATCH -tip RFC 0/2] kprobes: introduce NOKPROBE_SYMBOL() and prohibit probing on .entry.text
Currently the blacklist is maintained by hand in kprobes.c which is separated from the function definition and is hard to catch up the kernel update. To solve this issue, I've tried to implement new NOKPROBE_SYMBOL() macro for making kprobe blacklist at build time. Since the NOKPROBE_SYMBOL() macros can be placed right after the function is defined, it is easy to maintain. At this moment, I

[BUG] clear ACL-s on destination
Destroy ACL-s on destination when no ACL-s differens between source and destination. Bug is somehow related with function send_file_name() called with negative file descriptor f. There is no such bug in 2.6.9 version, but there options "-X -A --deleted" can't be used (we have "Internal error: wrong write used in receiver."). If I fix this, avoid calling send_acl() &

Tru64 privsep patch testing
OK, I got a chance to try out the Tru64 patch for privsep. I applied the patch to 3.4p1. Partial success, in that it now works for me for logins to "root". Logins to ordinary accounts fail after authentication, when trying to set tty characteristics. See the excerpt from the debug messages below. This is for Tru64 V4.0F (with enhanced_security turned on, obviously.) I guess it's time

openssh for UWIN
I am enclosing a context diff of the changes that I made to get openssh working on UWIN. UWIN is a UNIX operating system layer that runs on Win32 systems. For more information on UWIN go to http://www.research.att.com/sw/tools/uwin/. I also ran configure using -with-cppflags=-D_BSDCOMP=2. I don't know where that information would go with the source code. Let me know if you need more

[PATCH 00/14] Remove old_portio users for memory region PIO mapping
When running on PowerPC, we don''t have native PIO support. There are a few hacks around to enable PIO access on PowerPC nevertheless. The most typical one is the isa-mmio device. It takes MMIO requests and converts them to PIO requests on the (QEMU internal) PIO bus. This however is not how real hardware works and it limits us in the ability to spawn eventfd''s on PIO ports

SSH Client Hangs after logging in to SSHD
I'm not a ssh expert and I don't know if the log is good or bad, but I too am running OpenSHH under OpenServer. I find that after I connect, the return key has no effect unless I first type: stty sane <Ctrl>j If you've hit <ENTER> before that you must first press <Ctrl>j a couple of times to clean out the buffer. Fix for rcp -r
rcp -r is broken in 4.7 and 4.8. A fix is included below. The web-based bug interface is currently disabled so I can't open a bug report. I believe the person that provided the patch to me also indicated the problem exists in 5.0, but I'm unable to verify that since I'm only running 4.x. I think they monitor this list so I'll let them speak up if they choose to. >--- rcp.c~

[RFC/PATCH LGUEST X86_64 04/13] Useful debugging
plain text document attachment (lguest64-debug-utils.patch) This patch contains some nice features used to debug the lguest64 guest. It has a way to print page tables for either the host or the guest. It incorporates kallsyms, and can do a nice back trace of a guest when it crashes. The guest needs kallsyms obviously compiled in. Note: This code needs to be fixed to be more secure! Implements
