[patch] 3.7.1p2: slogin symlink fixes
Hello,
There are three small problems with the "slogin" and "slogin.1" symlinks
created upon installation:
1. "./" is included in the target path unnecessarily.
2. Symlinks are assumed to be available, while only hardlinks could.
3. EXEEXT is not respected for slogin.
Here is a fix for both problems -- the "./" is simply removed, EXEEXT is
added, the

OpenSSH 7.2 slogin not removed from openssh.spec
It appears that the redhat/openssh.spec has not been updated to account for the removal of slogin from the build. This breaks rpmbuild.
Specifically lines 361 and 362 still have the following:
%attr(-,root,root) %{_bindir}/slogin
%attr(-,root,root) %{_mandir}/man1/slogin.1*

slogin <host> -n
slogin "deadlocks" if you invoke it with the (useless, but legal)
switch "-n". stdin is not passed to it (and the local ssh process
ignores stdin), so it is not possible to kill it using <<~.>>
Should the "-n_ switch be disallowed for an interactive invocation?

ssh looks at rlogin=false only at startup
Very early on in what seems to be quite a hot debate sometimes, I pointed
out that sshd only controls rlogin=false at its startup, and if it is
changed, sshd simply ignores it ie:
chuser rlogin=true root
sshd
chuser rlogin=false root
Will result in sshd ACCEPTING login from root, ie it seems to only check at
its startup - is this a bit like ulimit behavior where you need need to log
out and in

2.2.0p1 PATCH: ssh/scp/slogin will invoke ssh-askpass
Enclosed is a patch against 2.2.0p1 that teaches ssh (and therefore
slogin and scp) how to invoke ssh-askpass to request a password,
RSA/DSA key passphrase, or an skey challenge response.
I've tested this on Linux (i386), for passwords and RSA/DSA key
passphrases. I cannot easily test whether the Right Thing will happen
for skey challenge responses; I would appreciate it if someone who

AIX SSH 2.x ssh and /etc/ftpusers rcp rlogin WRONG !
IF ssh is a replacement for rlogin, rsh etc I can accept it respecting
rlogin=false as rlogin does and rsh does not, however scp is a replacement
for rcp, and rcp does NOT use rlogin attribute, so the implementation is
NOT standard as scp fails if rlogin=false, but rcp succeeds, as documented.

contrib/solaris/build-pkg
I went to go use it today since I'll be putting together some packages for
a national project and I found them in pretty *BAD* shape.
By tonight, I should have some partial patches to resolve a lot of the
issues, but I really feel we need to either need to fix it, remove it, or
replace it with a better version.
It's old enought to lakc RSA v2 key generation, lack of slogin, sftp,

rsh/rlogin on CentOS4.2

I'm not quite sure what has changed in the recent rsh commands, but I
can't seem to get around the password promting. I need a clnk rsh between
two machines in order to run my backup script.
I added all the usual .rhosts with the proper permissions et al added the
xinetd.d confilg files, opened ports 543 and 544 in my firewall, yet when
I use the rsh commands, I get either a

rlogin authentication bug
Hi,
I have discovered a bug in the rhost module of Linux-PAM-0.57. This
bug leads to a vulnerability in the remote login authentication, with
the effect that ordinary user accounts may not be password protected.
There is only one case when the bug causes a vulnerability:
The problem case is when the user''s .rhost file has the name of a machine
with *more than one IP address* as the

Patch to allow openssh-2.2.0-p1 to be started from /etc/inittab
The following patch allows OpenSSH 2.2.0-p1 to be started (and managed)
from /etc/inittab (by "init") on systems which support that. This is
useful when you *really* want SSHD to always run since it will be
automatically restarted by "init" if it dies (and if "init" dies the
the systems dies :-).
I use a line (in /etc/inittab) like this on Solaris systems:

[PATCH]: openssh.spec file for SuSE 6.4 & 7.0
Attached is a spec file for OpenSSH on SuSE 6.4 and 7.0 systems.
It differs from the current spec file in the following details:
- Only one rpm file is created containing client and server files.
- PreReq `openssl-devel' is changed to `openssl'.
- Path '/usr/libexec/ssh' is changed to '/usr/lib/ssh' for
ssh-askpass and gnome-ssh-askpass.
