Assistance with Geometer's Sketchpad in a computer lab
It's a week until the semester starts, so what better time to dump on the sysadmin (me)! I've been told that I must have Geometer's Sketchpad running in a small (20-seat) Linux-based computer lab and I have a week to do it. Just another pothole on the freeway of life. So I've turned to Wine, which I have only superficial knowledge of. The FC3 RPM from WineHQ, though a bit

libvirt with multiple users
Hi, I'm trying to set up a virtual machine server for our newly re-founded LUG at my school. The idea is for members to have their own virtual machine that they can learn their way around a Linux system without worry of them hosing the host system or their own computers. At home I use libvirt with my server to manage multiple virtual machines, but the issue I'm running into for this use

openssh-2.1.0p3 & NetBSD 1.4.2
I have a need to set up an ssh login server that groks both ssh1 and ssh2. I'm trying to build openssh-2.1.0p3 on NetBSD 1.4.2. Configure fails when it tries to build the test program conftest. It's not obvious fron config.log exactly what is going wrong. Has anyone built that latest openssh under NetBSD 1.4.2? Thanks in advance. -- Rick Kelly rmk at rmkhome.com www.rmkhome.com

FreeBSD 4.0 and openssh 2.1.0p3
I just got OpenSSH 2.1.0p3 compiled on a FreeBSD 4.0 (generic off the CD), but I had to comment out the fake socket stuff in ssh.h and openbsd-compat.h, and sshd doesn't seem to like /dev/random. My configure option was just : ./configure --with-random=/dev/random Is the above what I'd expect to have to do, or have I got a bodgey install/path? :) Carl

scp not found with solaris 8/2.1.0p2
I've just upgraded to 2.1.0p2 on my solaris 8 boxes (now it survives a little longer, thanks!). But, I'm seeing "scp not found" where before it was fine. configure --prefix=/opt/local --with-random-/dev/random (the entropy generator is still broken), and in the past I had no problems with scp, but AFAIK something's broken in 2.1.0. Is anyone else seeing anything similar?

Samba access question
Hello: I just installed samba 2.0.0 here on my Linux 2.2.5 box and it is working...sort of. Here is the problem: I can browse the shares and see what's there but anytime I click on a folder shown there I get a message similar to: \\EAGLE\root\file does not exist yet I KNOW the files directory is there and I can obviously see it. What am I missing here? George George, MR. Tibbs & The

[PATCH]: Port of openssh-2.1.0p3 to Cygwin environment
Hi all, I have just successfully ported openssh-2.1.0p3 to Cygwin. As you may know, Cygwin is a GPLed POSIX layer for Windows OSes. To be serious: I don't _like_ Windows systems and sometimes I really hate that STUPID concessions which are necessary when trying to get U*X software working on Windoze but for some reason that's exactly the reason, why I love to work on Cygwin! Tag format comments from a newbie
Hello, all: As a newbie with a high opinion of my opinion, I couldn't let the opportunity pass by to put in my $0.02(USD)... First, a summary: We have two places to put information about the song I'm listening to; the metadata stream and the comment header. The metadata stream is intended to be variable-length and (potentially) containing a number of disparate types of details. Not

connection timeout
Attached is a patch which adds a ConnectionTimeout option, and corrects the ConnectionAttempts documentation. Previously, ssh would try to make a connection ConnectionAttempts times, sleeping 1 second between tries. But each connection attempt could take a very long time to fail if the packets die before the get to the host. So if ssh is being run in a script or what-have-you, it might be

Syslog facility in Linux
Hi ! While browsing Linux manpages (man 3 syslog) I noticed that the manual says that the LOG_AUTH facility is deprecated use LOG_AUTHPRIV instead. Is there a good reason why OpenSSH doesn't have an option to use LOG_AUTHPRIV facility ? (Looks like that tcpd/telnet etc. use the AUTHPRIV facility (in RH6.2)). Shouldn't be too hard to add the AUTH_PRIV facility ? Cheers, -Jarno --

future of subsystem requests
I was testing the Linux port of 2.1.0p2 and noticed that the F-Secure SSH client for Windows 4.0 couldn't successfully connect using its secure file-transfer facility. The server log reported that authentication was successful, then the log left off with a semi-cryptic "subsystem request for sftp" line. After that, nothing. Poking around the source, I found this little routine in

Openssh-2.1.1p1 and solaris 7/8
Hello, I just installed the above openssh onto a Sun Solaris 7 and Solaris 8 system. No problem with that. However, I now seem to get some rubbish processed when I login with slogin. An example: Last login: Tue Jun 13 12:31:27 2000 from jhorne.csd.plymo:tJ` ^[[?1;2c Telnet logs in okay, but just shows 'Last login...jhorne.csd.plymo'. This seems to get passed to the shell, which it of

bug in lastlog logging?
Folks; I couldn't find anything on my archive of the mailing list on this, and it may just be my mis-understanding, but: When I "ssh machine1 -l user1" as user2 on machine2, if user2 has the same uid on machine1, then user2's name ends up in lastlog, instead of user1's. This is a bit disconcerting when user2 is root, and root isn't allowed to remotely log in on

configure.in fix (netbsd-current) for 2.1.0p3
thanks for great package. configure.in shipped with 2.1.0p3 includes too few header files for detecting struct sockaddr_in6 and in6_addr, and the build will fail on netbsd-current (1.4Z). here's a tiny patch to make the build successful. itojun diff -u1 openssh-2.1.0p3/configure.in openssh-2.1.0p3+/configure.in --- openssh-2.1.0p3/configure.in Tue May 30 11:57:47 2000 +++

[LLVMdev] Question adding dummy basic blocks
Hi, I got a problem when I am trying to add a dummy basic block. Let say there are two blocks, A and B. A----->B I am trying to generate new BB called C which is located between A and B, but not break the edge of AB. The graph is like the following A---->B \ / \ / C There is new BB 'C' with edges AC and CB. It is kind of like what breakcriticaledge pass does.
