Cross-posting from schrodinger-devel. constant mailbox rebuilding with dovecot 1.0.10
I've recently upgraded to 1.0.10 in hopes that this problem would go away but no luck. I've got some users at my company with large inboxes on maildir (say 22,000 messages). Their mailboxes are hosted on nfs and dovecot is configured to do dotlocking. Still I see messages like this continually in the logs (sometimes every hour or so): server dovecot: IMAP(user): dotlock

ruby-libvirt equiv of virsh list --all
Hi all, I have a working KVM system managed with virsh and virt-install. I am currently playing with ruby-libvirt-0.1.0. I am wanting to build a simple sinatra/ruby app to show the VE's on a node and their state. I have ruby 1.8.5 on CentOS 5.4. I have the basics of it worked out but am a little stuck. Is there a way of retrieving a list of all VM's on a host using

Strange Multi-homed Traceroute/Ping failure for some IPs on some routes
Dear all, If I do cause offence by posting OT here I apologise in advance, I am however desperate for help and after posting on other forums without any ideas I know many networking experts will see this here and hope they can enlighten me. I will gladly donate some PayPal money to the person who can help. I have a leased line on 83.111.160.6 (/30 subnet, gw is 83.111.160.5), and they

CookieOverflow - 4k Session?
Hello all, I get the following error when I stuff my seesion with more than 4k of data. CGI::Session::CookieStore::CookieOverflow My problem is that I obviously need a fatter session. How do other users by-pass the 4k restriction on session variables? Stupid 2.0.5a question.
I've got a NT network set up talking to a Samba/Mastodon Linux host for files and printing, and my users and I have noticed one somewhat annoying thing about the samba server: we can't delete files from the print queue. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Here's the smb.conf off one of the offending machines: ----[snip]---- # Samba config file created using SWAT # from

Problem with installing/running domU OS on HVM machine
Hi, I have problem installing or running domU OS (Windows XP or Redhat 7.3). The machine runs CentOS 4.4 X86_64, Xen-3.0.3. Paravirtual domU works without problem. The problem is that when I run command "xm create <config>", nothing would happen. hvmloader does not seem get started at all. I''ve tried installing both 64bit and 32bit vnc, sdl but did not see any

Re: FLAC to mp3 batch converter?
Christian, Sorry I don't think I was so clear with my explaination of what I am doing. Your requirement flac -> mp3 is really a special case of ripping, if you think of the entire chain.... normal ripping: CD -> wav -> mp3 Your case is [CD -> wav ->] flac -> wav -> mp3 Which is equivalent to: flac -> wav -> mp3 I need this too and am proposing to use a ripping

Spatial Statistics on Grids
Dear colleagues, I'm searching for methods to analyze spatial distributions of cells with certain properties in a regular grid. For instance, consider a grid, where a part of the cells have the property "0", and the others have the property "1". I'm looking for statistics I could use for characterizing the spatial distribution of the "1-cells". Does anyone

Is there an R or S implementation of PAMSIL or PAMMEDSIL
I have some data that is dwarfed by one large cluster. I came across a paper titled "A New Partitioning Around Medoids Algorithm" (van der Laan, Pollard & Bryan, 2002) http://www.bepress.com/ucbbiostat/paper105/ that describes PAMSIL and PAMMEDSIL that look as though they might be more appropriate for the data I have. There does not appear to be much out there which is describing

SAMBA rejecting passwords from Win98 clients - the fix
There have been several postings about this phenomenon and we too fell into it when we introduced Win98 clients onto the network. Somewhere on the web I found the answer: By default Win98 sends passwords to a server encrypted, and by default SAMBA compiles with encrypted passwords switched off. Therefore the password one types in from a Win98 client is received by SAMBA in an encrypted form.

Creating CentOS DVD from scratch
I've found discussion about this in list archives, but no final answers. Many helpfull people wrote in the past how to avoid creating DVD (install from network, install from disk, boot this way, boot that way). But, I do need DVD, no way around it. No network, no USB, no floppy, no anything. Placing files on hard drive not an option. Just a DVD-ROM. By Googling around, I found some

Compiling problem flac 1.0.4 Mandrake 9.0 gcc 3.2
I think the basic problem is that configure can't find any C++ compiler on your system, which is required to build some of the libraries. It's kind of hard to imagine that Mandrake would supply gcc but not g++; maybe something else is wrong. Anyway, if you absolutely do not want any of the C++ stuff, you can just remove the following directories from SUBDIRS in src/Makefile libFLAC++

Strange slowdown calling Wine from PHP
I'm getting some odd behaviour from Wine when I call it from PHP, and I was wondering if someone who has the command line version of PHP installed would be willing to give the following test a try to see if it is something local to me or not. When I call Wine from a PHP script, it runs perfectly quickly. When I call that PHP script from another one, the whole thing slows down dramatically.

GLM Contingency table regressions
I have a contingency table with a 0/1 variable (fwr) that flags a particular condition, a weight variable (cnt) and other variables (e.g. zz) characterizing that observation of the table. I am trying to use GLM. By converting the variables to factors and running the following regression: fwr1<-factor(fwr) zz1<-factor(zz1) res1<-glm(fwr1 ~ zz1,weights=cnt) Is that appropriate? Paul M.

test for bimodality
Dear R users, I'm looking for a test of bimodality in order to make some decisions about how to procede with an analysis algorithm. I have not come across any such tests in my readings and discussions apart from the Rao which appears to be applicable to cyclic data. The data I'm interested in characterizing as uni- or bimodal are frequency x amplitude spectra of consonant speech sounds,

[LLVMdev] LLVM Status Update
Hi LLVMers, We're actively working on finishing up the release, which has been delayed. Last week was dominated by several paper submissions which were all due at about the same time, so the release fell behind (if you're interested, the papers are available on the main page). We are currently shooting for getting the release out the door early next week. That said, we have made a lot
