F-secure -> Openssh Compatibility (fwd)

Subject: F-secure -> Openssh Compatibility
We have Macintoshes running Fsecure SSH client 1.0.1 which are unable to
connect to a server running Openssh 2.1.1 on Red Hat 6.2.
I believe that the problem is a bug with Fsecure, since a 30-day trial
version of 1.0.2 works

FTP tunneling
If people haven't seen it, there's a pretty nice Java SSH client called
MindTerm:
http://www.mindbright.se/mindterm/
One of the things they did is add some hacks to make FTP tunneling over
SSH trivial. This client looks at the data being forwarded over port 21
(ftp control port), and looks for the FTP PORT and PASV commands used to
establish

Food for thought regarding PAM
I'm new to this list, so please forgive me if this has been discussed
before.
It appears that one of the (commendable) design goals of OpenSSH is to
re-use existing open-source libraries wherever possible in order to
simplify the OpenSSH code and hopefully improve security in the process.
As exhibited by the current, non-open SSH, supporting all of the nuances
of authentication and logins

ipportfw - security
Hi
Are there any known security holes or necessary precautions in using port
forwarding with ipportfw?
I'm planning on forwarding ports from an outer firewall/router (connected
to the Internet) to a host in the DMZ, then on from the DMZ host to the
inner firewall, and finally from the inner firewall to some host on the
inside.
Thanks,
Jens

Help with parsing a data file
Hi All,
I need to parse data from a file, example shown below. The first two lines
can be skipped, the third line contains the column names. The next 13 lines
can be skipped. The next line "1991" is a year value, with the following 13
values data for that year. The file then repeats this format with (year, 13
lines of data for that year). I would ideally like to end up with an

R-alpha: New Incomplete Beta Function
Here is a drop-in replacement for the R incomplete beta function.
src/math/pbeta.c
It is a slightly modified version of the cephes library one from
Netlib. In the few cases I tried it seems to give at least 14
digit agreement with the one in S-PLUS (its hard to get more).
I'm not sure what performance is like. I'd like to know if it
helps with some of the problems which have been

Win Integration: possible solution?
Hi. Back again...
I'm still looking for a possible integration of MIT K5 and AFS through
the windows login, so I will ask you a question.
A first considerations is that afs+k5 works fine but we have to create a
local account with a fake password. The profile will be on the local
disk. We can gain tickets and the token necessary to access \\AFS. The
problem is: how to avoid a local account?

Curious about final KRB5/GSSAPI patch inclusion.
What is the target version for all the KRB5 bits to be in place. I know
there is very much in place right now, but I remember someone mentioning
there was just a GSSAPI/MITKRB5 patch being waited for.
TIA.

Plotting just a portion of a smoother graph in ggplot2
Hi,
I am using ggplot2 to with the following code:
gmathk2 <-
qplot(time,math,colour=Kids,data=kids.ach.lm.k5,geom="smooth",method="lm",formula=y~ns(x,1))
+ opts(title="Smoother Plot: Math K-5") + xlab("Time") + ylab("Math") +

This plots all the smoother for all the x values. What I'd like

SSH security hole found
>From http://lwn.net/#security
A vulnerability present in the SSH software package can allow an
attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the SSH server. To protect
against this, immediately upgrade to ssh 1.2.25. Red Hat ssh-1.2.25 RPMs
are available, as is the Debian ssh-1.1.25 package for hamm (Debian
2.0-to-be).
There are SSH 1.2.25 RPMs here:

variance?,...
hi
I'm learning R and making some examples.
One of them is that for given distribution
I show density function, distribution function
expected value and variance(?).
I know
EX <- function(xval,xprob) sum( (xval*xprob) );
where xval is vector of values and xprob vector of probabalities,
but
DX <- function(xval,xprob) EX((xval^2),xprob) - (EX(xval,xprob))^2;
doesn't work as I

Kerberos/GSSAPI support
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone was looking at implementing
draft-ietf-secsh-gsskeyex-00 in OpenSSH?
My patches for SSH version 1 Kerberos 5 support (heavily based upon
work done by Dan Kouril) are now available from
http://www.sxw.org.uk/computing/patches/
Is there any interest in integrating these into the distribution? If so, I'd
be happy to update them to the development version.
Cheers,

Kerberos and Samba
Hi.
I've built an afs cell, a kerberos kdc, an openldap server, all
kerberized. Now all linux clients can login on the cell using k5
authentication, finding informations about their home dirs with ldap.
Their home reside on the afs cell, which allows r/w access since it
releases a token from the k5 ticket. All macosx clients can login as
well... but what about windows? ^___^;;;
