Multihome WINS Registration
I've got a bit of a problem, which is related to the problem I posted yesterday. Samba is not registering the right address with the WINS server, when it is on a multi-homed machine. The machine is on two networks, like this: Subnet A(128.173.188.0) ------------------------------------------------------- | | |

Samba on Two networks
I'm trying to set up a 100Base-T network on top of my exisiting 10Base-T network. The 100Base-T network is between a few hosts, but those hosts are also on the 10Base-T network. Here's a little diagram: 10Base-T 100Base-T ------------------------------------------------------- 128.173.1.1 DCSERVER | (NT PDC+WINS Server) |

ANNOUNCE: openssh-1.2.2p1
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 This is a patch release which contains fixes to all the problems which have been reported over the last month. Most importantly: OpenSSL-0.9.5 has exposed a bug in RSA key generation on systems which lack a /dev/random (Solaris, HPUX, SCO). On such systems this port was not properly initialising OpenSSL's entropy pool. This results in lower

lastlog_get_entry error on IRIX
Precedence: bulk Hi, I'm getting the error: sshd[71835]: lastlog_get_entry: Error reading from /var/adm/lastlog: Error 0 from openssh 2.1.1p4 on IRIX (6.5.8m). Looks like there's some confusion about /var/adm/lastlog being a directory and not a file on IRIX. ./configure says: checking for lastlog... no checking if your system defines LASTLOG_FILE... no but I still gets the error

New liblogin release
Hi, I've just put a new version of liblogin[1] on my website. This version is fully tested on Linux RH6, OpenBSD, HPUX10.20 and Solaris 2.6. It may well work on other systems now, as it supports login(), [uw]tmp, [uw]tmpx, and lastlog (filemode only.) If you're feeling adventurous, please check out the web page and try it out. By 'tested', I mean that the library is known to

More patches to fix NetBSD compiling
Unfortunately, the login.c changes after pre-19 have exposed some more NetBSD-centric problems concerning the lack of several fields in struct utmp. Here's another set of patches to fix NetBSD compiling (although they may also help some other UNIXes as well). bug in lastlog logging?
Folks; I couldn't find anything on my archive of the mailing list on this, and it may just be my mis-understanding, but: When I "ssh machine1 -l user1" as user2 on machine2, if user2 has the same uid on machine1, then user2's name ends up in lastlog, instead of user1's. This is a bit disconcerting when user2 is root, and root isn't allowed to remotely log in on

[2.1.1p4] utmp related patches plus unresolved bugs description
Fixed: -- On systems such as SunOS4 where the system include files are no help in locating the utmp file (et al.), configure can define their location in CONF_*, but defines.h never used these. -- Might as well put in the usual location for SunOS4. -- In loginrec.c (utmp_write_direct), writing to the utmp file was not done correctly. Fixes for Solaris
Attached is a small patch that should fix most of the problems reported. I am adding a recommendation to use GNU make to the INSTALL document. Variable Names
Dear R users, That's probably a silly question even for a newbie but : Is it possible to assign variable prices as variable names ? For instance, would something like the following work : for (i in 1:4) { error.i <- some_calculation } so "error.i" variables would be created for i=1,2,3,4 i.e. error.1 error.2 error.3 etc. etc. Costas --

Axes intercept
I have a plot where the values of the y axis go from a positive number to a negative number and I want the x axis to intercept at zero rather than at the bottom of the y axis, regardless of its value. Can anyone help me to do this? Thanks in advance Vivien Vivien Kent MSc Oxon PhD candidate Evolutionary Anthropology Research Group Department of Anthropology Durham University Dawson

Suggestion: login.c->record_login()
Hi, A lot of the problems with openssh portability so far appear to be with the login record functionality, i.e. lastlog support, and variations on handling utmp vs. utmpx etc. Looking at for-profit SSH 1.2.27, login.c is rather embarassing spaghetti code, so laden with '#ifdef's it's almost impossible to read. OpenSSH's code isn't anything like that, but then it doesn't

low frequency content
Hello, We are trying to figure out how to preserve the low-frequency content when we try to convert a .wav file to an .opus file. What settings in Opus that can accomplish this? PID file
Where is the best place for me to change the PID file location? I _could_ change it in ssh.h but then I'd have to do this every time. Am I best to put in a -DPIDDIR="/etc" or something? Alternatively, would it be easy to change the configure.in stuff to let me do a --pid-dir="/etc" or a --pid-file="/etc/ssh.pid"? Thanks, Andrew Stribblehill Systems Programmer,
