Problem with UTMP recording
Hello to all! I have problem with OpenSSH 1.2.1pre18 on Linux (kernel 2.2.13, distribution Slackware 4.0). When someone login using ssh, there is no way to see his presentance with some 'standard' tools (finger, who, w, users...). Of course, his proccesses are in ps, and so. I've tried to see /etc/utmp using vi, and there is some entry, but maybe invalid, or something. When I enable

Jumping to PXE boot from DOS
Hello all, I want to create a program that runs from a pxe-loaded virtual floppy (using memdisk + keeppxe) to call again PXE boot. I took a piece of code form NILO to look for PXE data structures and the call to function PXENV_START_BASE from PXE spec as follows: lower = (unsigned char *)LOWER_PXE_MEM; upper = (unsigned char *)UPPER_PXE_MEM; for (i=upper; i>lower;i--) { if

ssh hangs or gives Segmentation fault
Details of installation attached. Effect: when I build and test (with full path names) ssh in the openssh... directory, everything works fine. When I "install" it as per attached file into a test-directory and run it from there, there are 2 phenomena: either it just hangs, eating 96% of CPU or it dies with a Segmentation fault (this is what happens most often) Help needed

ANNOUNCE: openssh-1.2.3
The Unix/Linux port of OpenSSH 1.2.3 was released yesterday and should be available from a mirror near you. A mirror list is available from: http://violet.ibs.com.au/openssh/files/MIRRORS.html This release fixes the bugs reported since 1.2.2p1 and contains many cleanups from the OpenBSD tree. In particular, the OpenSSL detection problems have been resolved. The layout has changed a little bit.

Name based SSH proxy
I am working on a proxy which can be hosted on a single IP address and dispatch requests to different backends depending on which hostname the client used to connect to this IP address. Currently such a proxy can be build to support HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, and DNS. However SSH support is impossible due to the ssh client not sending the information such a proxy would need. I am not the first to want

connection_in and connection_out
Hi, I'm a newbie to openssh and was trying to read the source code recently. Could anyone tell me why in sshd the connection_in and connection_out are the same(seems to be integer 3 in my machine). connection_in is used in process_input(readset), and connection_out is used in process_output(writeset); But how does it work if it tries to read and write from the same file descriptor? /Bob

Patch for SSH-tunneling via HTTPS-proxy
Hi List, I have a szenario where I need to reach a host on the internet from a "firewalled" network but there is a HTTPS-proxy runnnig. As some people know you can tunnel all TCP-connections through this proxy because it can't decide if someone is really doing SSL or just Telnet to port 443 (or use SSH in our case). So I've written a patch for ssh to make it send the CONNECT

Idletimeout patch, third attempt
Here is my third attempt at the idletimeout patch. I tried to address the points which Marcus Friedl brought up. It is actually bigger than the previous patches, but not as intrusive. It is big because it moves some stuff from serverloop.c to packet.c. - I moved all the logic to packet.c. This means that I also had to move the actual select() call, which used to be in serverloop.c to packet.c.

Ack...OpenSSH no longer compatible with SSH 1.2.26 clients?
Hi Marc, I am seeing this exact same problem on OpenSSH-2.5.1p1 compiled on a PowerPC. The same code compiled for an x86 machine works fine. Your messages on the list didn't seem to indicate any resolution to this problem. Have you figured out how to make it work? checksum: 2d2711e2 stored checksum: 2d2711e2 checksum: 72f2b13c stored checksum: e230f836 Disconnecting: Corrupted check bytes

[PATCH] cleanup of global variables server/client_version_string in sshconnect.c
In sshconnect.c there are two global variables for server_version_string client_version_string. These are used just in a few functions and can easily be passed as parameters. Also, there is a strange construct, where their memory is allocated to the global pointers, then copies of these pointers are assigned to the kex structure. The kex_free finally frees them via cleanup of the kex

Problem compiling openssh on Solaris 2.6 with AFS-krb4
Heelo, I'm trying to copmpile openssh-2.3.0p1 against KTH-KRB dist. (ftp.pdc.kth.se/pub/krb/src) of kerberosIV and AFS 3.6. However, I get two errors: 1. redifinition of types, conflicting with krb.h (which #includes ktypes.h) - removing temporarily the u_int code from ktypes.h helped 2. send_afs_tokens() - in the sshconnect1.c show both problems, although the redefinition problems occured
