ANNOUNCE: openssh-1.2.2p1
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
This is a patch release which contains fixes to all the problems
which have been reported over the last month.
Most importantly: OpenSSL-0.9.5 has exposed a bug in RSA key
generation on systems which lack a /dev/random (Solaris, HPUX,
SCO). On such systems this port was not properly initialising
OpenSSL's entropy pool. This results in lower

rsaref usage
First, when I tried to start sshd, I got the message
Starting sshd: ssh-keygen: no RSA support in libssl and libcrypto.
See ssl(8).
sshd: no RSA support in libssl and libcrypto -- exiting. See ssl(8)
no RSA support in libssl and libcrypto -- exiting. See ssl(8)
So I thought I have to recompile openssl with rsaref flag to config.
When I did that, I got compilation error (this is version 0.9.5

spec file
I have looked into the spec file for the openssh rpm.
In the %preun stanza, I noticed that the currently running sshd is
stopped only when removing the package. On the other hand, it is
theoretically possible that a new version of openssh may install files
which would make the old sshd misbehave.
So I think, it is better to stop sshd every time the package is
upgraded.
Also, the %post stanza

minor prob with spec file
The openssl rpm needs to be installed on the system *before* the
openssh-server rpm is installed. This is because the openssh-server's
post script does the host key generation.
As it is now, the command
rpm -U openss*
intended to install openssh* and openssl* will report that the host
key generation failed. Fix: change

rsaref test
Is it true that configure tests for the existence of librsaref.a, and
if it finds it, it assumes that that rsaref is supposed to be used---*even
if openssl was not built with rsaref support* ?

A few more Solaris 7 bugs in 1.2.3pre2
These are all in the port of 1.2.3pre2:
- configure accepts --includedir, but doesn't seem to pass it on to the
Makefile. You have to edit the Makefile manually if you have include files
anywhere but /usr/include. Which is a problem because...
- The Makefile doesn't include /usr/local/include by default, which is where
zlib installs itself by default. Probably oughta be in there.

list address
Hi,
I must have missed something; it seems that all messages sent to the
ssh list get forwarded to the openssh list.
Thx

Gaps on merging xts objects
Looking for a little help figuring out what's driving gaps in data after
merging two xts objects (msci.m and x2). The merge statement I'm using is
... y <-merge(x2,msci.m, all=FALSE). Here's info on the output , y:

Retrieving data through bbg or excel, what is faster?
Hello, I need to retrieve datas from bloomberg.
I want to retrieve those datas in the fastest way as possible. I have two
options:
writing the datas from bbg to excel and reading from r the excel sheet or
directly
read the datas from from r with a Rbbg connection. Which connection is
faster?
Thank you

RStudio Server v0.99.489 Ubuntu version 12.04
Hi R-SIG-DEBIAN
We are trying to setup the R Shiny Server using Ubuntu using these<https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download-server/> instructions. Unfortunately when we try to set up the repository to install r-studio into Ubuntu from the terminal the url that we are using does not appear to be right. Here I where we are placing the url /etc/apt/sources.list a and this is the

Patches to report rsaref build and to call pam_setcred
I've attached two patches. The first just changes the output of "ssh -V"
to print that it was built against rsaref if libRSAglue (which is built
as part of openssl only when it is built against rsaref) is present at
build-time. The second adds appropriate calls to pam_setcred() in sshd.
Without them, our systems can't access AFS because the PAM modules only
get tokens at a

what is the preferred method to create a package local variable?
for the moment, I'm using:
.onAttach <- function(libname, pkgname) {
.bbg.db.conn <<- dbConnect(dbDriver("PostgreSQL"), user="blah","blah")
}
.onUnload <- function(libpath) {
dbDisconnect(.bbg.db.conn)
}
which results in a hidden global variable in the global environment.
I would prefer to make the assignment only in the package namespace.

OpenSSH 2.1.0+OpenSSL 0.9.5a+RSAref 2.0 trouble
Hello.
I have been having trouble configuring the source code for the
abovementioned. I have to use RSARef as I'm a resident of the USA, so I
can avoid patent violation.
The configure script fails to see the OpenSSL+RSAref mix on three
different platforms, including the following:
FreeBSD 4.0-STABLE (Which has its own port, but I wanted to try it there
to see if I could reliably reproduce

FR: Customize background colour of row and column headers for the View output
A criticism of your suggestion is that it is not backwards compatible.
Does that matter? I don't know, but probably not. The X11 version of
the viewer does what you suggest.

Ipsec and kernel 2.6.8
Hi all :-)
I have a problem with my current configuration of ipsec. I''m using ipsec with
kernel 2.6 and racoon. I have two computers linked by wireless cards. The first
(192.168.1.1 Zeus) is connected to internet through a DSL modem and the second
(192.168.1.2 Memphis) is accessing internet through the first. I want with
ipsec to encrypt all datas between the two computers.

Still a problem with openssh and rsaref
I have openssl linked against rsaref and rsaref libraries are in my path
