problems logging in from 1.2.2 client to 1.2.1pre24 server
Hi!
On my personal workstation, I have installed openssh 1.2.2. I have two
server machines, one (A) running a self-compiled openssh 1.2.1pre24,
and a different one (B) running an openssh1.2.1pre24 compiled by
someone else.
While I can perfectly log in to A, logging in to B fails:
|mh at leona[32/532]:~$ ssh haber at b
|ssh_exchange_identification: read: Success
|mh at leona[33/533]:~$
So, I

FC5 smbpasswd not working
Hello,
we run samba 3.0.14a on FreeBSD. We recently upgraded our linux clients
from FC2 to FC5. Now smbpasswd (on the client) does not work. We get the
following error:

received from remote machine sambaserver pipe \samr fnum 0x70f3!

openssh-1.2.1pre24 on SCO
Yo All!
Sorry if this is obvious but I am new to openssh. I have used the
original ssh for a while and am familiar with it (and it's
restrictive license).
I am trying to port openssh-1.2.1pre24 on to SCO UnixWare 7.1.0. I
will post the small patches when it is really running.
Two problems, SCO has no /dev/random so I installed egd-0.6. It
usually works but sometimes dies. I have sent

openssh (fwd)
Some people on the OpenSSH list have expressed an interest in Kerberos
version 5 support. Below is a (non-US) URL recently posted for a patch to
OpenSSH to work with Heimdal, the international K5 implementation. I
haven't checked to see if the patch would work with MIT or MIT-derived K5
libraries.

OT: 14 slots available in a browsercam membership
hi all,
A year ago I did a fundable project for a browsercam annual
membership, that has renewed but not everyone who originally joined
has paid me for the renewal, so I have 14 user slots available.
If you would like a full-access "unlimited" membership to browsercam
(with VNC which is really useful), contact me off list and I''ll give
you instructions - it basically

in.tftpd not responding when listening on 255.255.255.255
I've got in.tftpd configured on a Fedora Linux server. The service is
configured to boot printersm and sun sparcs. The printers boot fine, but
there's a problem with the sparcs.
When the sparc sends an initial request for a file, in.tftpd forks a
process to handle it. If I do a "netstat -pan | grep tftp" I see that
this forked process is listening on local address

Problems upgrading samba
I have inheirited a samba-1.9.18p4 running on an alpha machine. I want
to upgrade it to something newer. The machine serves a disk filled with
network installs of our commercial software.
I have tried installing both samba-2.0.7 and samba-2.2.0-alpha2, but
both cause failures on the DOS machines. In specific, Corel WordPerfect
8 exits with an illegal instruction if a newer version of Samba is

sftp file locking
hi all,
does sftp do file locking?
I'm writing an app which will process incoming files uploaded files via sftp
and it would be great if I could assume a file lock :)
please respond directly as I am not subscribed.
tia, sorry if this is the wrong list.

hi all,
I can blab, but here is a sample of my /var/log/apache2/error.log, it

redirecting them with javascript to the same URL which will be fine on
the next request? :)
thanks,

RBAC on Rails?
yo,
has anyone done a good RBAC implementation for rails?
I see lotsa mini-tutorial-suggestions, but not... ActionRBAC! :)
any pointers helpful - if nothing exists I think I''ll duplicate the
RBAC implementation we did for binarycloud (binarycloud.com) and give
it to the community.
thanks for any help,

SwitchTower with spinner/spawner/reaper = teh suxx0r
hey all,
So, we''ve been trying to get a nice stable config running for
deployment with SwitchTower, spinner spawner and reaper, and I have
to say, they are, as it says in the title, teh suxx0r.

domU, Failed to obtain physical IRQ, e1000 Intel NIC
Hello all.
I''ve upgraded my drives, and in doing so loaded FC8. Latest
kernel-xen.x86_64 (2.6.21.7-5) and xen.x86_64 (3.1.2-5) available, using

FC5 with pcifront and NIC drivers in kernel.
Now, I''m unable to get the NICs to function inside my domU. The are
visible in lspci, and ipconfig. DomU dmesg
