Thousands of TIME_WAIT connections with CUPS?
Hi all, For some reason I'm getting thousands of hanging TCP connections on our server which appear to be caused by Samba sending print jobs to CUPS (or I assume so as nothing else on the machine uses CUPS.) These connections are starting to cause problems (programs monitoring connections start breaking because it takes many seconds for them to scan through the full list) so if anyone has

Can't see shares on a server member
Hi team, I'm dealing with AS/U as a member server on a Samba 3.0.20 PDC. Jonction seems ok, and from the member server I can see PDC's shares (with net view) and authenticate user (with net logon user passwd /domain:domainname). On the other side, I fell into timeout when running smbclient -L member from the PDC. Here is a log.nmbd loglevel 10 from PDC as there is no other log

Samba + OpenLDAP: LDAP server is running but could not respond to a search request
Hi, all. I am trying to set up SAMBA PDC with OpenLDAP using smbldap-tools from IDEALX. This is on a SLES 9 and I had run the latest online update as well as SP1 and SP2 for it. At this point smb is off and ldap is running. I have gotten up to where I needed to test for: ldapsearch -x -b "dc=sample,dc=com" "(ObjectClass=*)" # extended LDIF # # LDAPv3 # base

Samba Upgrade to 3.0.25b leads to core dumps with winbind and ldap idmap
I have recently upgraded a Samba server running on a Red Hat Enterprise 4 (32 bit) server. The version of samba upgraded to is 3.0.25b. I noticed that a new index had to be added to my ldap (openldap) server for the sambaSID attribute. So I added the index line to slapd.conf as follows: Index sambaSID eq,sub Afterwards I ran slapindex to recreate the indices in the openldap database.

smbldap- only user root can login to windows.
After getting samba, ldap and smbtools setup and joining machines to the domain successfully, the only user that can login to the win2k boxes is the user root created initially by the smbldap scripts. Any other user comes up with a bad username and password message in windows. Any of the users I've tried to login to the windows box can login to other linux machines, can connect using

LDAP connection leak?
I've set up Samba 3 as a PDC/BDC with LDAP. Yesterday we upgraded from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2rc1, which fixed some client-to-client problems we were having. Shortly after midnight this morning the PDC stopped--the general syslog logs, the LDAP log, and the Samba logs. The only process that seems to continue is NTP, which after start-up does nothing NSS or PAM-related. This leads me to think slapd
