Chroot patch (v3.4p1)
The following is a patch I've been working on to support a "ChrootUser" option in the sshd_config file. I was looking for a way to offer sftp access and at the same time restict interactive shell access. This patch is a necessary first step (IMO). It applies clean with 'patch -l'. Also attached is a shell script that helps to build a chrooted home dir on a RedHat 7.2

MAX_SESSIONS Increase Impact
I'm hoping this is the the right location for this question.... I've been working with some developers that are desiring to use the multiplexing capabilities of OpenSSH, but have hit the default limit of 10. I've seen some discussions of increasing this default limit previously and have noticed that some of the Linux distros have increased the number to 64; I'm curious of the

OpenSSH 5.1: call for testing
Hi, OpenSSH 5.1 is almost ready for release, so we would appreciate testing on as many platforms and systems as possible. This release is one of the biggest in recent years, with two hackathons' worth of improvements and fixes for some of our most recalcitrant bugs. Snapshot releases for portable OpenSSH are available from http://www.mindrot.org/openssh_snap/ The OpenBSD version is

which are the exact effects of MaxSessions
Hey. I wondered a bit which the exact effects of MaxSessions are. The documentation says: Specifies the maximum number of open sessions permitted per net? work connection. The default is 10. And it apparently seems that setting e.g. the following in sshd_config: MaxSessions 0 => no logins possible at all MaxSessions 1 => control channel muxing basically

MaxSessions option in sshd_config
Hi, I need information regarding MaxSessions option in sshd_config. As i understand, it defines the maximum number of channels that can be opened at any point of time between two hosts that are connected over SSH. The default value for this option is 10 in openSSH. What all needs to be considered if i want to increase this value? Are there any security concerns with increase of this value or does

Problems Compiling sshd - OpenSSH 3.8p1 on Tru64 UNIX V4.0F PK#7 (OSF)
I am trying to compile sshd 3.8p1 on Tru64 UNIX V4.0F Patch Level 7. Previously I've compiled the entire 3.6.1p2 distribution with no problems. The problem seems to occur when linking sshd. The linker is unable to find xcrypt and shadow_pw functions (openbsd-compat/*.c). The libopenbsd-compat seems to have built without errors. I configure as follows: CC=cc CFLAGS=-O LDFLAGS=-non_shared

[PATCH] Add a chroot_users option to sshd
This patch adds a new option to sshd, chroot_users. It has the effect of chroot()ing incoming ssh users to their home directory. Note: this option does not work if UsePrivilegeSeparation is enabled.
