Constraint on one of parameters.
Dear all, I have a function to optimize for a set of parameters and want to set a constraint on only one parameter. Here is my function. What I want to do is estimate the parameters of a bivariate normal distribution where the correlation has to be between -1 and 1. Would you please advise how to revise it? ex=function(s,prob,theta1,theta,xa,xb,xc,xd,t,delta) { expo1=

OpenChrome video driver for Centos
I can find xorg-x11-drv-openchrome-0.2.901-1 for EL5, but not the current xorg-x11-drv-openchrome-0.2.903-1 (which only goes from FC8 on). Since my OQOs have the CX700M2 chip and there are listed enhancements for this chip in the 903 version, I would really like to get it...

Reproducibility issue in gbm (32 vs 64 bit)
Dear List, The gbm package on Win 7 produces different results for the relative importance of input variables in R 32-bit relative to R 64-bit. Any idea why? Any idea which one is correct? Based on this example, it looks like the relative importance of 2 perfectly correlated predictors is "diluted" by half in 32-bit, whereas in 64-bit, one of these predictors gets all the importance

Installing R with g77 fortran compiler
Hello, I am trying to compile sources of R-1.5.0 on a Mandrake 8.1 linux box. For Fortran compiler needs, I downloaded and installed a g77 rpm. But the configure step fails with following output. I would like to know if any of you had similar problem and how you solved. Thanks in advance. I've tried to change display using dual head monitor but

gamm in mgcv random effect significance
Dear R-helpers, I'd like to understand how to test the statistical significance of a random effect in gamm. I am using gamm because I want to test a model with an AR(1) error structure, and it is my understanding neither gam nor gamm4 will do the latter. The data set includes nine short interrupted time series (single case designs in education, sometimes called N-of-1 trials in medicine)

integrate (error: evaluation of function gave a result of wrong length)
Dear all, I am trying to use the integrate function in R but it seems that it does not work in my example and I cannot figure out why. I create a function Mu1 (which works fine) and try to integrate by the code: n <- 100 Ctrl <- as.matrix(cbind(runif(n, -30, 30))) W <- Ctrl + as.matrix(rnorm(n)) Rsp <- (W>as.matrix(sample(10, n, T)))*1 Mu1 <- function(x, Y=Rsp, Xc=Ctrl){ x

The desired result is odd. 1) It looks like the string is duplicated in the desired result. The first line of data has "15, xc, Ab", and the desired result has "15, xc, Ab, 15, xc, Ab" 2) The example has S1 through S5, but the desired result has data for eight variables in the first line (not five). 3) The desired result has a different number of variables for each line. 4)

[ANNOUNCE] OpenChrome DDX Version 0.6 released
Hi everyone, Finally figured out how to use the X.Org automatic submission script after realizing that I had to change the script in order for OpenChrome DDX to build in the first place. Thank you and sorry for the confusion. The desired result should have 8 variables as a comma separated in each line. The string variable is considered as one variable. The output of your script is wfine for me. Thank you! The Percentile of a User-Defined pdf
I would like to give a probability distribution function of a function of (x,y) on the half-plane y>0, and a constant 0<c<1 and I would like to know the c percentile of the marginal distribution of x. I have tried along the lines of the following but I keep getting errors: # SIMPLIFIED PROBLEM # The plan is to solve for the .975 percentile "xc" of the marginal x distribution

Base R. Regarding code improvements: 1. Personally I find (\(...) ...)() notation hard to read (although by placing (\(x), the body and )() on 3 separate lines it can be improved somewhat). Instead let us use a named function. The name of the function can also serve to self document the code. 2. The use of dat both at the start of the pipeline and then again within a later step of the pipeline

Bug in truncgof package?
Dear R-helpers, I was testing the truncgof CRAN package, found something that looked like a bug, and did my job: contacted the maintainer. But he did not reply, so I am resending my query here. I installed package truncgof and run the example for function ad.test. I got the following output: set.seed(123) treshold <- 10 xc <- rlnorm(100, 2, 2) # complete sample xt <- xc[xc >=
