X11 display issues
Hi,
This also has been discussed in SSHSCI's SSH context. All SSH versions
(both SSHSCI and OpenSSH) derive value for DISPLAY variable from
`uname -n`. The problem is that the returned value is not necessarily
resolvable to a valid IP number which in turn might cause a failure.
To make it fool-proof I suggest to set DISPLAY to the interface's
address the user has reached the system in

dvd+rw-tools ported to FreeBSD (Sony 500A DVD[+/-]R[W] support)
I just finished up a port of Andy Polyakov's excellent dvd+rw-tools
to FreeBSD, and he has incorporated the patches into his release:
http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/
http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/
http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/tools/
(version 5.8.4.4.4)
These tools support DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW format dvd burners,
including the popular Sony

Linear model and approx function
Dear all;
I have a dataframe with several columns. The columns are the elevation,
volume and the area of the cells (which were placed inside a polygon). I
have extracted them from DEM raster to calculate the volume under polygon
and the elevation for a specific volume of the reservoir.

Create Matrix from Loop of Vectors, Sort It and Pick Top-K
Hi,
I have the following dataset (simplified for example).
__DATA__
300.35 200.25 104.30
22.00 31.12 89.99
444.50 22.10 43.00
22.10 200.55 66.77
Now from that I wish to do the following:
1. Compute variance of each row
2. Pick top-2 row with highest variance
3. Store those selected rows for further processing
To achieve this, I tried to: a) read the table and compute
variance for each row,

The server's DH-GEX exchange hash includes the DH group sizes it
received from the client. If these are

sftp-server and chown
Hi,
I've already discussed this issue in SSHSCI's SSH 2.2 context on
ssh at clinet.fi list. My standpoint is that it's wrong and meaningless
to perform chown in sftp-server as the file is most likely copied
between systems with distinct accounting system where user is not
necessarily (and even unlikely) has same numeric user id. The original
bug report was that user couldn't

Intermittent connection failure
Hi,
i have sporadic connection problems with my rsync server.
I have _no_ firewall involved and there is _no_ max connections set.
rsync on the clients is started from cron via a bash script. There's
also no permission problem. rsyncd runs as daemon (is not started from
inetd).
It sometimes works, but every third or fourth rsync fails with this message:
rsync: failed to connect to

dvd+rw+r for FreeBSD
I'm not subscribed to this list; but I read that
Matthew Dillon has ported the dvd+rw tools to FreeBSD.
I just compiled and installed the application; but I
can't burn to a DVD+RW on a Sony DRU-500A.
command: growisofs -Z /dev/acd0c -rl ./testfile
result: ":-( unable to CAMGETPASSTHRU for /dev/acd0c:

Make the DH-GEX fallback group 4k bit.
Where did this group come from? IMO it would be best to use one of the
standard groups if we're picking another fixed one - logjam attacks

Problems with writing Dual Layer DVD
Hi,
I am running Centos 4 (fully updated on this box).
I removed the old DVD writer (/dev/hdc) and installed a new LG GH20
"Internal Super Multi DVD Rewriter" with a SATA interface - this shows
up as /dev/scd0.
When I insert a pre-recorded DVD autorun mounts it and displays the
contents without any hassles. It appears to me that the required kernel
modules are loaded - as copied

Crash with OpenSSL 0.9.8 and OpenSSH 4.2p1
Hi,
I'm using OpenSSL 0.9.8 with OpenSSH 4.2p1
I can ssh <hostname> and connect successfully.
The very next time I get a crash and core file.
The next time is successful. The next time a crash.
I'm using the authmethod gssapi-with-mic using Windows 2000 as the KDC
running ssh and sshd from a Solaris 9 box.
Here's the backtrace from the core file:

Cryptography patents (was: openssl lib question.)
Sunil--
Actually, you do not "see that openssl
has some patent issues." You do see that
OpenSSL implements many algorithms, some
of which have been (at various times)
been patented or encumbered in some
countries.
Without knowing what country you're in,
none of us here can really give useful advice
as to which software/algorithm patents
could potentially apply. To the best

Announce: OpenSSH 6.9 released
OpenSSH 6.9 has just been released. It will be available from the
mirrors listed at http://www.openssh.com/ shortly.
OpenSSH is a 100% complete SSH protocol version 1.3, 1.5 and 2.0
implementation and includes sftp client and server support.
Once again, we would like to thank the OpenSSH community for their
continued support of the project, especially those who contributed
code or patches,
