PATCH: Round 2: RH initscripts backward compatibility
I've cleaned up Pekka Savola's newly revised sshd.init and additional sshd-functions and modified them to work they way i've been arguing they should work. Compatibility functions are defined in ./contrib/redhat/sshd-functions, which should get installed no matter what release of Red Hat Linux OpenSSH is getting built for, to be consistent across releases. Specific changes from

PATCH: make contrib/redhat/sshd.init work with older RH releases
Damien-- Attached is a patch to contrib/redhat/sshd.init which eliminates the dependency on the success() and failure() functions from initscripts>=4.16. This allows sshd.init to be used for both early and recent releases of Red Hat Linux (i've confirmed it works on both 4.2 and 5.2 as well as 6.2). The patch also removes the 'Requires: initscripts >= 4.16' line from

problem login W2k-sp2 and 4 to samba 3.0.2: profiles
Hi once again Now I have almost everything working, that is, Samba 3.0.2 with Ldap database (messages ok when reading), and I want it to be a PDC, everything seems to work fine when registering machines or users, but when logging, I mean, entering W2k-Sp4, my computers (two of them) reset themselves: they begin to load the user defined stuff and then when one expects the the navigator bar to

Winbind offline logon
Hi, I have a question about Winbinds offline logon capabilities. We are working on integration of laptops with winbind in to our Linux Workstation Managment System, but have some difficulties to verify the desired functionality. For that we are running the latest samba (currently 3.0.25rc1) . Authentication is setup against Windows AD 2003 with R2 extensions (rfc2703bis) . Smb.conf:

Winbind 3.0.25-pre2 problems with sid2uid
Hi, I have tested winbind in samba-3.0.25-pre2 and encountered some problems. We have a working config with Linux samba-3.0.23d and W2k3 AD R2 rfc2307bis, but when I switch to 3.0.25 it stopped working. I am not quite familiar with the new configuration directives for idmap, but the old config did not work either with 3.0.25, so I tried to use the new ones. Is there apparent errors in my config

Authentication of user through Win2k to Samba PDC failed
I have set up a Samba PDC with LDAP password backend schema. I found the way of connecting win2k workstations to this Samba server by setting the parameter "workgroup" (in smb.conf) to the name of the domain I created previously in Samba/LDAP. Once in win2k workstations, I changed the identification from workgroup members to domain. But when validating, it asked for any user who

RHL init.d/sshd ipv6 hack
Hello all, I'm using the attached patch. With it, if you add OPTIONS="-6" in /etc/sysconfig/sshd (this kind of sysconfig/<name> is a pretty normal RHL practice), then you can enable ipv4 and ipv6 on RHL without problems and without having to modify the init.d/sshd script. This or something like should IMO be added. Removing 'noreplace' from sshd_config

restrict shares listings in domain to authenticated users
I'm setting up a samba primary domain controller in Debian woody and the users are logging into the domain fine and can access their shares. I would like to restrict the listings of available shares to only authenticated users of the samba domain. I know this works in a win NT4 domain, how does one do it with samba? This is the listing I get from an nt4 pdc (belongs to a different domain than

Building NT installer. Need Advice RE: File Structure.
Hello OpenSSH, I am working on building an installer for a stand alone OpenSSH 4.1p1-1 build for NT systems. Since it is built with Cygwin, it seems Cygwin bombed the OpenSSH directory with a ton of erroneous files. The installer is so far perfect and I am seeking advice. Which of the following files from the following structure are totally unnecessary? I wish to know so I can clean up the
