bind_address ignored? as in "ssh -R [bind_address]:12491:127.0.0.1:500"
No answers on secureshell at securityfocus.com I must be doing something wrong or the server seems to ignore my bind request. Port forwarding is working it just bind to all ips and ignores my bind request. I've also tried this with an rfc1918 address opposed to a loopback and had the same results. Google and the archive haven't helped. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

Protocol 2 remote forwarding patch
Hi ! Here's a patch to add remote port forwarding support (protocol 2) for openssh. I have tried to test that it works like it should but a more thorough testing is needed. This patch adds both client/server support. The patch should be applied to openssh-2.1.1p4 source tree. Also included is a PortForwarding sshd_config option, new ./configure option --disable-forwarding that should make it

Idea: reverse socks proxy
Hi, Just a usecase that I'm sure has been covered before but just in case its not an openssh solution would be very helpful. I was trying to install software on a server that was firewalled so no outbound http connections would work. I was also tunnelling via another server. Outbound ssh connections also were a convenient option. What would have been nice would be a remote version of

Suggestion for -G option for remote ports to be forwarded, analogous to -g option for local ports (-L) to be forwarded.
When forwarding local ports with -L these ports can be made accessible to the local net with the -g option. For remote ports, forwarded with -R this option does not apply. It would be nice to have a -G option which does the same on the remote machine for the remote net, depending on the remote users rights. On the server site it should be configurable, on which networks/addresses the forwarded

LocalCommand problem for tunneling on Linux
I've been testing tunneling on Linux with openssh-SNAP-20060116.tar.gz and found a problem. When I use LocalCommand for doing ifconfig stuff, the command line was executed before a tunneling interface is opened. This causes errors on Linux and the interface is not automatically set up. This is not a problem on *BSD because you can do ifconfig for unopened tun/tap interfaces. But in Linux,

tunnel device name acquisition?
Numerous how-tos all over the Internet show how one would set up a tunnel using ssh, e.g.: ssh -f -o Tunnel=ethernet <server_ip> true I was wondering if there's a way to subsequently acquire the names of the local and remote tun/tap interfaces (e.g., using the default "-w any:any") for subsequent automatic tunnel configuration, e.g.: ip link set $TapDev up ip link set
