sync_browse_lists: NT-SERVER0 rejected
Folks, I'm confused with those whole samba/security thing. I'm running the latest SAMBA without encryption and the default share security. As a result, I can't get my NT PDC to sync browse lists with my samba server, which is on a different subnet. I get the following error in log.nmb: sync_browse_lists: NT-SERVER0 rejected the browse sync sessionsetup Is there a way to get

How to log separate files or directories for centralizing SysLog server ?
Hi All, I have three server. server0 is centralized logging server, server1 and server2 are remote client servers. How can I properly configure the syslog in server0 to log the two servers in different separated files/directories. Example, server1 will be logged at /var/log/syslog/server1.log of server0 and /var/log/syslog/server2.log for server2 as well. Is there need of little tweaking for

Situation: - two physical links aggregated to "default0" - dladm create-vlan on default0 with several different vlans - xVM DomU running linux connected to the same vlans when trying to ping the DomU from Dom0, I can see with snoop (in Dom0)

Obtaining TGT using service principal name
I have been trying to setup Samba4 as a DC using kerberos for authentication. I have successfully provisioned the domain, and was able to join my domain using my windows machine as well as kinit to obtain a ticket for my administrator user from my servers. I have hit a wall trying to setup a server to authenticate a SPN using a keytab. I can join the domain and kinit as my administrator user,

Shutting down WinXP Pro instance
Recently I set up a PDC (Fedora 12 - I'm using this for a specific reason) using Samba 3.4.9 and OpenLDAP 2.4.19; I named my domain ATHOME. I am trying to figure out how to shut down WinXP Pro remotely and I'm not having any luck. Up to this point I have tried the following: - I used ATHOME\root which is the admin acct I used to join XP to my domain. I added ATHOME\root to my

two nodes with different performance metrics
Two-node AFR with two clients, all four machines identical, v2.0.9, etc. I notice that one client is able to read and write much more quickly than the other and I'm wondering how I go about finding why that is. In a two-node AFR, is one node always elected to be the primary node for writes and does that apply for reads too? That would explain my situation (client0 and server0 share a

Changing passwords from Windows
Is it possible for a user to change his/her password from Windows? I tried it out last night as a test user against my PDC and it only changed for Samba; I was still able to log into the PDC via SSH using the previous password. (I changed it for the test user as root and it took for both SSH and Windows.) I tried to use smbldap-passwd as the test user, but I got a message back saying I had

R-beta: multiple binary types
I've modified the "$RHOME/bin/R" and "$RHOME/cmd/filename" so that you can use the same directories for multiple machines. That is, machines running various flavors of UNIX can access the same directories. The modified structure adds the directories $RHOME/bin/$OSTYPE/ $RHOME/lib/$OSTYPE/ to hold the machine specific binaries. For instance, here the $RHOME directory
