PermitRootLogin without-password functionality differs for UsePAM yes/no option
Hi,
I am using OpenSSH 3.9p1. For " UsePAM yes/no " option with "
PermitRootLogin without-password", the server functionality differs.
For " UsePAM yes ", the server allows authentication thru password,
meanwhile " UsePAM no " does not. I have fixed that problem and the
patch is given below.

problem compiling OpenSSH 3.9 on OpenBSD 3.4
Please pardon any user idiocy involved, but I applied the OpenBSD 3.4
patch to the 3.9 sources on both my i386 and sparc64 OpenBSD 3.4 boxes,
and get the same error:

Problems Compiling sshd - OpenSSH 3.8p1 on Tru64 UNIX V4.0F PK#7 (OSF)
I am trying to compile sshd 3.8p1 on Tru64 UNIX V4.0F Patch Level 7.
Previously I've compiled the entire 3.6.1p2 distribution with no problems.
The problem seems to occur when linking sshd. The linker is unable to find
xcrypt and shadow_pw functions (openbsd-compat/*.c). The libopenbsd-compat
seems to have built without errors. I configure as follows:
CC=cc CFLAGS=-O LDFLAGS=-non_shared

OpenSSH: multiple vulnerabilities in the new PAM code
This affects only 3.7p1 and 3.7.1p1. The advice to leave
PAM disabled is far from heartening, nor is the semi-lame
blaming the PAM spec for implementation bugs.
I happen to like OPIE for remote access.

PAM kbd-int with privsep
The following is a patch (based on FreeBSD code) which gets kbd-int
working with privsep. It moves the kbd-int PAM conversation to a child
process and communicates with it over a socket.
The patch has a limitation: it does not handle multiple prompts - I have
no idea how common these are in real-life. Furthermore it is not well
tested at all (despite my many requests on openssh-unix-dev@).

Looking for NTLM config example
Now that I am running Thunderbird on Linux and away from Windows/Outlook, I'd like to take
another run at setting up NTLM authentication from Thunderbird to my Samba4 AC/DC.
With the help of the samba maillist folks I was able to set up NTLM authentication for domain
user login. I should be able to do the same for email!
But, I need help. I went to

ossh, S/Key AND password authentication
I've been trying to establish the following setup:
* on port 22, a vanilla sshd that allows publickey and
keyboard-interactive requests using only protocol v2
* on port 1022, a sshd that allows publickey, password and
keyboard-interactive requests using both protocol 1 and 2
The first is meant to be open to the world, the second is accessible only
from within the (firewalled) private

user:style
I noticed that (perhaps because ':' is invalid in a username) you can
say ssh -l user:style host, where the "user:style" is sent by the client,
and the server strips the ":style" part off and makes it available as
part of the authentication context. It's currently unused.
What are the plans for this, if any? I was experimenting with the idea of
using it with SRP
