Stalls and closes
Hi,
Trying to SSH to a server over an OPENVPN link, and it seems to be
stalling , and then closing the connection. Can I do some command line magic
to stop the stall, or get a password in before it closes?

Issue while Running SSH from a Windows Service
Hi All -
It seems to be an odd scenario. I have a simple ssh command which
establishes connection with a UNIX machine and executes some commands
over there. When I ran the command from command window, I was able to
successfully run them. In reality I wanted the ssh command to be invoked
by a windows 2003 service. I tried to debug the ssh command while
running from a service and I get the below

ssh 4.0 under AIX 5.3 password expiration
I have a user who's password has expired (ADMCHG) flag
is set in /etc/security/passwd under AIX 5.3. For
some reason it is not prompting for new passwd. This
worked in 3.9. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ryan

Rsync and SSH on Windows
I am writing a program that synchronizes my companies Windows laptops
with our home server. Due to the nature of our proxy/firewall, I must
use SSH with port forwarding to achieve this goal. Currently I establish
the SSH connection using the following command:
ssh ssh_user@proxy.example.com -i file_name -L 873:200.200.60.60:7000 -N
and then run rsync with the following command:

ssh hangs up
Hi All,
I set a cron to connect to a a server in every 10 minutes.
Sometimes it hangs up and I can not find why. (Once or twice a day)
I tried to set ServerAliveCountMax 3 and ServerAliveInterval 15 in
ssh_config without any success.
The only way to continue is killing the ssh process.
How can I solve this? Any other ssh option that could help?
What happens or should happen when it hangs?

OpenSSH public key problem with Solaris 10
Hi ya'll-
I've got this odd openssh problem with Solaris 10 I was hoping someone
could shed some light on. Not sure if it is a bug... Basically I'm
trying to use pubkeys as an auth method, but am having issues. I can
log in using passwords no problem, but as soon as it notices a matching
public key it closes the connection. I ran the sshd server (on Solaris
10 box) in debug

openssh debian bug?
I spent the last couple of hours trying to figure this out. We upgraded
to sshd version OpenSSH_3.8.1p1 Debian and now "password" login no longer
works... however keyboard-interactive login still works. the result of
this is that while openSSH clients still function, ssh applications like
MindTerm do not.
here is the debug dump from the login session:

OpenVMS SSH password expiry woes continue
I sent in a patch a week or so ago for a problem a customer of mine was
seeing when trying to connect to their OpenVMS system with an 3.8.1p2
OpenSSH client (running on a linux box or in cygwin) and trying to login to
an account who had an expired password.
The problem continues although now it has nothing to do with what my patch
handled as they have since upgraded their SSH software on the VMS

ssh exit_status not 255 for many errors
Hello openssh developers,
I'm having some trouble with ssh version 3.8.1p1 but see the same
problem in the source I just pulled from
openssh at anoncvs.at.openbsd.org:/cvs
The man page for ssh says...
ssh exits with the exit status of the remote command or with 255
if an error occurred.
thus I expect ssh to always return either 255 or the exit value of the
remote command but it

PEM_read_PrivateKey failed issue
Hello,
I'm having a problem with my ssh client, on FreeBSD 5.4 and 6.1 the same issue.
OpenSSH_3.8.1p1 FreeBSD-20040419, OpenSSL 0.9.7e 25 Oct 2004
but also same problem with OpenSSH_4.3
When I make a key, everything goes fine. When I try to change the password on the key
it give me the 'PEM_read_PrivateKey failed' problem, this also prevents me from connecting
to another host.

I searched through the mailing list archives here, at

I sure as heck didn't see anything.

weird DH problems
Dear Damien and Darren,
I recently ran into a really weird and spooky ssh problem. My brain is going to mad trying to explain that it is a hardware issue since on two machines, one of which is a Celeon 2.8 Ghz with 1 GB RAM, another is a Xeon 4 CPU box with 3 Gig RAM and I guess 3 Ghz or something, both of which are running FreeBSD 6.1 with latest version of OpenSSH bundled with it. The version

Need to sftp with automatic login from 1 aix machine to another, the id on the target is a DCE(DFS) id
Hi,
I had a question and can not find out on the web where anyone might have
done this. I am sftping
between one AIX machine and another using automatic login. I have created
the id_rsa.pub on the
source server and added it to the /.ssh/authorized_keys file on the target
server. The problem we
are having seems to be that because the target id is a DCE(DFS) id and it's
home directory is
