WINE is ignoring locale settings
Even on plain WINEPREFIX I am unable to get Polish-specific chars to work. On unix (Arch x64) everytching works fine. Wine is setting wrong codepage in registry ( in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Fonts\Codepages apears "1252,437" while it should be "1252,437") Code: $ locale LANG=pl_PL.utf8 LC_CTYPE="pl_PL.utf8" LC_NUMERIC="pl_PL.utf8"

Bug#658101: xen-utils-common: xl create fails because of missing /var/lib/xen
Package: xen-utils-common Version: 4.1.2-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I changed toolstack to xl in /etc/default/xen, rebooted machine, and xl started working, but creating domU (kfreebsd9 from package kfreebsd-image-9.0-1-xen) fails, because /var/lib/xen is missing. Just doing 'mkdir /var/lib/xen' solved my problem, and kfreebsd9 kernel now loads (still panics because of lack

package encoding warning
Dear list, I'd like to get rid off a couple of warnings that have appeared in checking my package on CRAN (I did not find them on my local machine before submission). What puzzles me is that different platforms return different warnings, only one of which I recognise as my obvious mistake. The check results are at http://cran.r-project.org/web/checks/check_results_planar.html

Small encoding question
Dear developeRs, Compilation of the latest version (0.9-5) of my actuar package fails with r-release MacOS_X ix86 on CRAN; see http://www.R-project.org/nosvn/R.check/r-release-macosx-ix86/actuar-00check.html All errors come from accented letters in comments in latin-1 encoded files (except hierarc.R which is in UTF-8, my bad). Encoding is declared as latin-1 in DESCRIPTION. The package

Dear List In my short life as a beginning R-user i've encountered a following problem that i'm unable to solve myself: I have a database in MySQL containing table and field names as well as some data containing Polish accentuated characters (like ????), utf8-encoded. Cannot build custom locale with utf-8 charset
I am trying, without success, to compile a custom locale for the utf-8 character set. I have issued this command: localedef --no-archive -f UTF-8 -i /usr/share/i18n/locales/en_CA at yyyy-mmm-dd en_CA at yyyy-mmm-dd.utf8 which produces the requisite files without reporting an error but which none-the-less insists on using the iso-8859-1 charset: LC_ALL=en_CA at yyyy-mm-dd locale charmap

Bug#658100: xl: hangs in qemu-dm when trying to run PV domU
Package: xen-utils-common Version: 4.1.2-1 Severity: normal Hi, I was doing some experiments today with XL TOOLSTACK, and found few problems when trying to do PV domU boot. I was trying to run kfreebsd9 or linux-3.2 kernel in qemu using PV i386, and with simple configuration without any disks, nics or virtual framebuffer, kernel boots (and then kernel itselfs correctly fails with information

URGENT: Skip installation ix86 packages from kickstart on 64bit arch?
Hi, Has any one know how to skip ix86 packages from installation in Centos kickstart? Most of our machines have 64bit Intel/AMD CPUs, and it make non-sense to still keep 32bit compatibility. Even worse of i*86 packages is, when upgrade we have to recompile both ix86 version and x86_64 version to get an automatic yum upgrade. I know we could use 'exclude' option to exclude i*86 packages

bnlearn package compilation failure on MacOSX
Hi all. I've recently uploaded a package (bnlearn) to CRAN. It builds fine on both Linux (32 and 64 bit) and Windows, but fails on MacOSX ix86 because of C90 vs C99 issues: http://www.r-project.org/nosvn/R.check/r-patched-macosx-ix86/bnlearn-00install.html Since I've no MacOSX machine at hand, I would like to ask you: why is C99 not the default for gcc on MacOSX ix86? Is it safe to

Milestone: 1000 packages on CRAN as of today(?)
Hi, I was just looking at the "CRAN Daily Package Check Results" [http://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/checkSummary.html], and realized there are 1000 packages on CRAN as of today (look at row 3 in the table below). Yet another quite extraordinary milestone in R history. Last updated on 2007-04-12 11:48:32 Results for installing and checking packages using the three current flavors

getAttr problem
Hi all, It seems that getAttr doesn't return "names" attribute properly as in getAttrib(x, R_NamesSymbol)); If you look at section 4.7.4 in "Writing R Extensions", the second example of SEXP out(SEXP, SEXP) returns NULL for the names attribute of the outer product. This is true for R 1.7.0 on both Win2000 with mingw and Redhat 9.0 with gcc. Is there something I am
