glm fit with no intercept
Dear R-help list members, I am currently trying to fit a generalized linear model using a binomial with the canonical link. The usual solution is to use the R function glm() in the package "stats". However, I run into problem when I want to fit a glm without an intercept. It is indicated that the solution is in changing the function glm.fit (also in "stats"), by specifying

Building openssh-3.5p1 with new DES functions
Hi, I've installed openssl-0.9.7 and now am testing current openssh-cvs. The kerberosIV installation has it's own libdes.a. I'm quite please openssh built successfully, congratulations! Unfortunately, kerberos autentication is not tried at all. As far as I remeber, Ja Iven who wrote some patch, which as he said got into 3.5p1 also removed the ifdef's that --with-privsep no longer

vanilla build of 7.7p1 release on linux/4.17 fails with gcc8 @ "/usr/bin/ld: unrecognized option '-Wl,-z,retpolineplt'"
Verifying a report I just got pinged about, building vanilla openssh 7.7p1 on linux configures ok, but fails build around 'retpoline' I've started looking through recent reports; haven't _yet_ found anything similar. While I continue, is any of the following familiar/expected? Either known bug/issue or env conflict? The current env includes supposedly retpoline-ready GCC 8.1.1,

warnings building openssh-3.0.2p1 on HP-UX 10.20
I'm getting a number of compiler warnings about type mismatches, building openssh-3.0.2p1 on HP-UX 10.20 with the HP ANSI C compiler. The resulting code seems to work, but spot-checking suggested that some of the warnings are the result of mixing int and u_int types, which might introduce subtle bugs. I figured it might be worth reporting, since I'm in the minority of people not

Bus Error with openssh 3.7.1p1 on 64-bit Sparc/Solaris
I compiled openssh 3.7.1p1 on Solaris 9 with the Forte compiler in 64-bit mode. After authentication, a forked child of sshd dies with a Bus Error in `read_etc_default_login' (session.c). The reason is the use of `sscanf' with control string "%5lo" on a `mode_t' value. On Solaris in 64-bit mode, `mode_t' is an `unsigned int' (32 bits), whereas `long' is 64

3.7.1p1 (possibly p2, too): two small compilation nits on RedHats
(These are compiling the .src.rpm from ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/OpenSSH/portable/rpm/SRPMS/openssh-3.7.1p1-1.src.rpm) 1) On Red Hat 7.3, with gcc-3.2 with the SSP patch (http://www.research.ibm.com/trl/projects/security/ssp/), rpm --rebuild --define "static_libcrypto 1" openssh-3.7.1p1-1.src.rpm - I needed to add -ldl to the linker flags before it linked. 2)

3.7.1p1 and PAM
Hi, I've spent a lot of time digging the last couple days and seen some talk about how now with 3.7.1p1 the PAM challenge response requiring keyboard interactive on the client is "right" and no longer a kludge. I understand that. Unfortunately I've got a bunch of users who's client (www.ssh.com's client version 3.2.3) doesn't function without a kludged server.
