map_data
Hello, I have some problems with calling the map_data function in maps package. Not so long ago it was not a problem, but for some reasons in July this year it became unavailable.
For instance, if I call the following code:
m<-map_data(?world?)
The R returns to me:
Error: cannot find function ?map_data?

Problem building OpenSSH-3.8p1 on AIX 4.2.1 and 4.3.3 systems
Dear Sirs,
just tried to compile openssh-3.8p1 on two IBM RS6000 boxes (models 390 and
F50) having AIX 4.2.1.0 and AIX 4.3.3.11 (all maintenance levels
applied). I use IBM 'XLC' compiler version 3.1 (xlC.C 3.1.4.0 with
xcC.rte 4.0.2.0 and xlC.aix43.rte 4.0.2.1). On both machines there was a
slight problem when compiling, because both <utmp.h> and <utmpx.h> files
were included,

OpenSSH 1.2.3 on AIX 4.3.3
Hmph. I wish I had checked the list before I wasted a half-day on this.
Yes, the problem exists under AIX (mine's 4.3.1). Here's the patch I
came up with, which may be a little more straightforward than the
original. I confirmed that it works under Solaris 2.[67] too.
Don't forget to run autoconf.

Build fails on AIX 5.2
I'm trying to build openssh-3.7.1p2 on aix and am currently failing with
the build errors below. This is a
default build no special config options. I was able to build 3.6.1p2
with the patches but havn't been able to build any version of 3.7. I
saw some changes were made to aix files in the changelog.

RFE: Proposed fix for incompat introduced with 'unix extensions' and 'wide links'....in 3.4(?)..
After an upgrade, I got re-bitten by the 'unix-extensions and
wide links' incompat. (They used to be compat but were made
incompat in the 3.4.x timeframe due to security concerns).
At the time it was suggested I write a patch complete
with documentation to describe the fix. The below
seems to fit the bill. I was wondering what people thought
about it's inclusion in future

posted twice to the ssh security list and have not received any

Ok, this is a repost from awhile back to which I received no replies.

Current CVS broken on AIX: conflicting types for `gai_strerrorĀ“
Hi All,
After finding out my AIX boxes haven't been updating their tinderbox[0]
test trees (grr) and fixing that, I found that recent changes caused
build errors on AIX 4.3.3 & 5.1. 4.2.1 appears OK.
The error is:
gcc -g -O2 -Wall -Wpointer-arith -Wno-uninitialized -I. -I..
-I../../openbsd-compat -I../../openbsd-compat/..
-I/usr/local/ssl/include -I/usr/local/include -DHAVE_CONFIG_H

openbsd-compat/port-aix.c fix for 3.7p1
1. Need a prototype for get_canonical_hostname().
2. -I.. is used to build port-aix.c so why not just #include
<xmalloc.h> rather than <../xmalloc.h>?

[Bug 397] Openssh build failure AIX 4.3.3
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397
------- Additional Comments From dtucker at zip.com.au 2002-09-18 00:55 -------
Not sure about error 1, but error 2 has been fixed in -current (see bug #265).
As for error 3, the last time I built using the native compiler, I used "CC=xlc"
which worked; if possible try that.
