Variable substitution in UserKnownHostsFile configuration option
Dear OpenSSH developers,
Do you find it a good idea if variable substitution is implemented in
UserKnownHostsFile the same way it is done for IdentityFile? In
ssh_config I would like to write something like
UserKnownHostsFile ~/keys/%r/known_hosts
Thanks!

Host selection in ssh_config
Hello there,
I'm a little afraid of writing here, hope I don't make any mistake doing
so. I'm trying for days and searching the web too, but no obvious
solution, no reply from the specialized forum I wrote in.
Here is the situation:
I would like to have a lighter security inside our domain, without
changing when going outside. By "lighter security" I mean at least, no

Key preference
Hello everybody,
I have a problem specifying identities with the -i option.
For easier ssh invocations, I have setup my ssh_config files with entries like
the following:
Host *.domain.name
Port 23457
StrictHostKeyChecking yes
UserKnownHostsFile /dev/null
GlobalKnownHostsFile /etc/ssh/known-hosts/domain.name
IdentityFile ~/.ssh/%h-dsa
IdentityFile ~/.ssh/%h-rsa

ssh failure at password query
dear sir,
i encountered something very odd with openssh. when i try to
connect to my sshd daemon, i get repeated password errors. this
happens on all connections to my server. outbound connections to
other ssh sites work with no problem. the remote site can connect
to itself, but not to my site.
i captured the output of the sshd -d -d -d -e -D command to provide
you with some trace data. i

Disabling host key checking on LAN
Perfect, thanks. This winds up working for me (as far as I've tested so
far.)
Match exec "ping -q -c 1 -t 1 %n | grep '192\.168\.'"

UserKnownHostsFile none

Matching username in ssh_config
Hi all openssh devs out there.
I have quite a few Host-stanzas in my .ssh/config to keep track of all the
different settings and credentials needed to access all different hosts I
connect to.
Now I have ran in to a problem where I need to switch settings based on what
user I'm trying to login to a host as. A simple case is:
ssh -i rootkey root at host123
vs.
ssh -i userkey username at

CentOS5 Desktops authenticating to 389 Directory Server
Hi Everyone.
I am doing some LDAP testing. I have setup a 389 Directory Server on
CentOS 5 and using the default schema I have populated it with a couple
of users. I then did the configuration on the client that I thought was
needed to make it authenticate.
To test this I expected to be able to use id <uidNumber> of a user I had
defined.
But I get id: 1001: No such user id: 5001: No

Permanently added hostkeys (due to IP address pool), without confirmation
Hello,
maybe someone could please help and shed some light on a problem
that i don't understand, and that even in multiple ways.
The problem occurred three or four times over the past months

++ Pushing to "gitlab" (at least "master" differs)!

Support for UserKnownHostsFile tokens?
Hi Damien/all,
Since github etc use a potentially large number of IP addresses (albeit with a small number of keys), I'd like more granular oversight over their entries in my known_hosts.
Eg, here is a simplified stanza from my current ssh config:
Host github gitlab
User git
Hostname %h.com
UserKnownHostsFile ~/.ssh/known_hosts.d/git
There doesn't seem to be a good way to filter only

Once again, we would like to thank the OpenSSH community for their

[PATCH] Allow matching HostName against Host entries
It would be useful to allow matching HostName entries against Host
entries. That's to say, I would find it very convenient to have an
ssh_config like:
Host zeus
HostName zeus.greek.gods
User hades
Host hera
HostName hera.greek.gods
# [ ... ]
Host *.greek.gods
User poseidon
UserKnownHostsFile ~/.ssh/known_hosts.d/athens
# [ Default settings for *.greek.gods ]

PATCH: multiple BindAddress
Hello all,
I recently have a problem with multiple addresses and address
families. Problem is simple, i have some hosts with IPv4 access only
and some with IPv6 access. This wouldn't be big problem if I had a
stable IP addresses. But sometimes I move to another network with
complete different addresses. So I created patch which on option
BindAddress accept list of addresses. With ip I solved

OpenSSH 3.4p1 on SourceMage client ssh fails
Hi guys,
I have a OpenSSH 3.4p1 installation on a SourceMage box, and I am trying to
connect to a OpenSSH 3.3p1 installation on a RedHat 7.x box and any other
machine.
The client fails with a "Host key verification failed."
Any other client connects correctly to the RedHat box, and any other server
that I try to connect to from the SourceMage box fails with the same error
message.
