Barplot legend position
Dear useRs, I'm trying to create a barplot like so: x=matrix(1:10,2,5) barplot(x,leg=c("left","right"),besid=T) The legend is placed in default position topright, however the data are plotted there too. I tried controlling the legend position by adding x="topleft" but this results in an error that x matches multiple formal arguments. Leaving out the legend

Graphic legend with mathematical symbol, numeric variable and character variable
Hi, I'd like to make a legend with a mix of mathematical symbol (tau), numeric variable and character variables.I have tried : types<-c("Type 1","Type 2","Type 2") tau<-c(1,3,2) legend(x="topright",legend=paste(types,"tau=",expression(tau))) but it doesn't work: the 'tau' symbol is not written in its 'symbol

ggarrange & legend
I'm sorry but that is not a working example. A working example needs to create the plots being used. For example, stealing some code from https://rpkgs.datanovia.com/ggpubr/reference/ggarrange.html #================================================================= data <https://rdrr.io/r/utils/data.html>("ToothGrowth")df <- ToothGrowthdf$dose <- as.factor

Dear John Kane Dear R community Here my working example 1. Example that is working with legend=?top?. However, as mentioned, the legend is in the middle of the top axis. mylist<-list(p1, p2) dev.new(width=28, height=18) fig1<- ggarrange(plotlist=mylist, common.legend = TRUE, legend="top", labels = c("(A)", "(B)"), font.label = list(size = 18, color =

Legend titles in log plots broken? (ver. 2.2.1)
Legend titles work in linear plots: curve(1/x, xlim = c(0, 1)) legend(x = 'topright', inset = 0.04, legend = '1/x', lty = 1, title = 'Legend Title') But when you change to a log plot on either dimension things get screwy: curve(1/x, xlim = c(0, 1), log = 'y') legend(x = 'topright', inset = 0.04, legend = '1/x', lty = 1,

font size in legend
Hy all I use barplot to draw frequencies by dates. On the x axis it shows only 1 date for 2 bars, i've understand why, because R cant put so much date on the same axis, it will get out of the graph. that's why i tought about reducing the size of the font used to stamp the x axis. anyone knows the right way? i've tryed par(cin) and barplot(cin=3) but it says i cannot do it at this

Plotting a legend outside the figure - units
Dear R gurus, I am trying to plot a legend in the margins of a figure. The basic idea is to have two (or more) plots on the same figure, but then to have a common legend at the bottom of the plot. The approach that I have taken is to setup the figures, then do a "dummy" plot of the legend to determine the height of the legend box (ie from the value returned by the legend() command). I

Thanks! (was panel.axis() & grid/lattice settings)
Deepayan, Paul: Thanks very much for the very useful leads. I just spent some time this afternoon implementing your suggestions and my early test results are very encouraging. Paul, I understand the potential device re-sizing issue with the convert family of functions in grid, and will be in touch in case it becomes problematic for my applications. I very much look forward to your upcoming

Smart legend ???
Hi, all: Is there an automatic smart legend for R? Since my R code is running in a row, which will produce a bunch of R plots in a single run, some of the produced plots are really "ridiculous". Because my legend is fixed to "topleft", sometimes, which occludes the key parts of the figure/plots, but most of the time, the legend works just fine. I'm wondering is there a

par$csi
Dear R-help, I'm using 63.3 on windows NT. The improved graphics device has a problem in that the default par settings produce text that is way too small (63.2 seemed fine). I've compared the parameters between 63.3 and 63.2 and the ones that differ are : cin, cra, csi, mai, pin, plt. In the par help file, cin and cra have no documentation other than that they are read only, the last

I've want to save a lattice "parallel" plot with legend as png: Plotting with legend works well, but when trying to save the plot there occurs a problem with the legend. ################################################### require(lattice) #Some data: data<-matrix(rnorm(100),ncol=5) #Plot works parallel(data)

Computing line= for mtext
I want to right-justify a vector of numbers in the right margin of a low-level plot. For this I need to compute the line parameter to give to mtext. Is this the correct scalable calculation? par(mar=c(4,3,1,5)); plot(1:20) s <- 'abcde'; w=strwidth(s, units='inches')/par('cin')[1] mtext(s, side=4, las=1, at=5, adj=1, line=w-.5, cex=1) mtext(s, side=4, las=1, at=7,

I generated maps with the function symbols (graphics). These are basic maps generated with : symbols(x,y,circles=myvariable) where x et y are spatial coordinates corresponding to replicates of "myvariable". To whom it may concern: The help page for ?legend refers to a `title.cex` parameter, which suggests that the function has such a parameter. Legend on graph
Hi, I have a problem when I want to put a legend on the graph. I do: legend("topright", names(o), cex=0.9, col=plot_colors,lty=1:5, bty="n") but the legend is writen into the graph (graphs' top but into the graph), because I have values on this position. How can I write the legend on top the graph without the legend writes on graph's values. Thanks. [[alternative
