Help with gam
Hi,
I am a brand new user of R and I am trying to use the gam procedure with the package mgcv. I did a bit of my homework by consulting the R-manual, as well as the mgcv manual written by Simon Wood. I admit it was just a few hours, but what I am trying to do is really basic. Essentially, what I am trying to do is to generate the fitted values after the execution of the gam procedure and export

Running R2WinBUGS on Linux using Wine
Hello all
(1) My departmental IT guru has installed the latest Wine (0.9.48) on a
well maintained Fedora 7 server, so that I can run WinBUGS from R via
R2WinBUGS (this seems like the only real option for running BUGS from R
on a Linux platform?)
(2) WinBUGS seems to run okay, except for the following output errors:

Unable to utilize past 1 gbps
Hi Zsolt,
looking at the metrics from Proxmox it doesn't look like anything breaks
there. What about at the operating system level? Could there be some
limits there? Have you checked corresponding kernel or system logs?
Which OS/distribution are you using? Checked the logs there? If nothing
screams there, maybe start looking at a load balancer and scale with
several more VMs?

assign events on creation of a new user
Hello everyone,
I am developing a web app that is being used to track users and their
associated events. Events could be like ''getting married'', ''having a
baby'', ''buying a car'', etc. and each event has a median age associated
with it. For instance the getting married median age is 25.
I have the application working with checkboxes where you

A quick Google search indicates that it might be a Proxmox limitation:

Unable to utilize past 1 gbps
Dear Marius,
In addition to that attached please find a screenshot from Proxmox on
statistics.
Do you know any ice cast servers that puts out more than 1 gbps for a
longer period? Just curious whether anyone was able to go beyond 1 gbps for
an extensive time.
Thank you!
Best,
Zsolt

Unable to utilize past 1 gbps
Dear Marius,
Our station is Megadanceradio in Hungary.
Our status page for the master server is:
http://45.67.158.93:8000/status.xsl For the slave:
http://45.67.158.94:8000/status.xsl
We are peaking at around 11.00 am and 13.00 pm in the afternoon.
We have tested extensively the bandwith with speedtest. We tried with iperf
but that did not finish for a long time so we stopped it.

I don't know if any such limitation exists, but maxing out just shy of 1Gbps sounds a bit more like an interface's line speed limited/set to 1Gbps somewhere in your production chain? You wrote that you have tested the bw - what did you use? Iperf? Speedtest?Maybe consider scaling with additional Icecast servers and use a load balancer in front? And then just scale accordingly? This sounds

render :update problem with IE 9
Hi,
I have a legacy web site based on ruby on rails 3.0.9 which works just fine
with Firefox, chrome and IE 8, but I receive an HTTP 406 error every time
when I check the web site with Internet Explorer 9. I narrowed down the
problem to the respond_to + format.js + render :update trio, but I did not
manage to solve the problem until now.
I created a small example for reproduction:

Unable to utilize past 1 gbps
Dear Icecast,
We are operating a web radio on a 10 Gbps dedicated server line. The line
bandwidth is tested and available. The web radio is hosted on a Proxmox
virtual environment. We own the physical server itself and made sure to
have allocated the sufficient amount of resources on the virtual machine.
We found that no matter what we do overall upload cannot go over 1 gbps on
1 mount point.

mount dies misteriously
Hi samba gurus,
A samba connection between a RedHat 9 and a win2000 is given, where
mount -a sometimes (sometimes - i couldn't notice any order in that)
dies completely.
If it is during the boot process, the whole boot process stops without
any further error message or anything. (you have to enter the
interactive startup, say no to the smbmount and say mount -a as root
from a console)

case, it won't make sense but still be displayed. Seems simpler than
special-casing things.
