Missing rpms for samba-ldap script
I was pointed to: http://web.vcs.u52.k12.me.us/linux/smbldap/
As an effective script to get samba/ldap configured for a PDC. It is
written for Fedora 3 core or the K12LTSP distro. of course I discovered
this after installing the Centos distro. Now it is decision time: stay
with Centos and get this working or move the the K12 distro. This setup is
for the small business network in my basement

Software RAID complete drives or individual partitions
I have been reading about software raid. I configured my first software raid system about a month ago.
I have 4 500 Gig drives configured in RAID 5 configuration with a total of 1.5TB.
Currently I configured the complete individual drivers as software raid, then created a /dev/md0 with the drives
I then created a /file_storage partition on /dev/md0.
I created my /boot / and swap partitions on

RPM packages for RHEL4
Hi,
- the download page links to /RPM/rhel/ instead of /RPM/rhel4/
- the location of repos.d in DAG's yum (I guess where most people
would get yum for RHEL) is /etc/yum.repos.d/
rhel4 works with yum but ...
could you sign the packages - it's risky to use an unsigned repository
(only have to compromise the web server to own any system updating from it)?
up2date requires a

excel parser (preferably perl)?
I'm getting tired of converting spreadsheets that someone else updates
to csv so my perl scripts can push the data into a mysql database. Is
there a better way? I haven't had much luck with
perl-Spreadsheet-ParseExcel (and find it odd that yum prefers the .32
version from epel over .57 from rpmforge anyway). Is the current CPAN
version better? Or the equivalent java tools? Or

Finding perl-MIME-Base64
I am told by yum localinstall that I need this for TinyCA2.
When I search for it, it seems like it SHOULD be part of basic perl
package, but it is hard to argue with yum on dependencies.....

perl updates always break perl programs, how to fix?
I realize this is my fault because once upon a time I installed a package
using CPAN and probably other admins on the system have as well but now
whenever I update perl I have to jump through hoops to get perl applications
to work again (usually updating Scalar::Util and another package with CPAN).
I would love to figure out how to fix this so it's not such a headache to

best repo for perl-IO-Zlib perl-Archive-Tar
With all due respect to the various people, their hard work and associated
repos, where is the best place to do a yum install for these two packages
below in regards to an internet facing production Centos 4.4 server
perl-IO-Zlib
perl-Archive-Tar
I noticed dag and karan repos appear to have it and my experience and
research tells me that using CPAN is not an option for possible problems at

Yum and case-sensitivity
Hi List,
On one of our servers (CentOS 4 32 bit), we have the dag repo enabled.
Yesterday morning during a yum update, yum replaced the CentOS package
"perl-DBD-MySQL" with one from dag, "perl-DBD-mysql".
For whatever reason, the two packages differ, in that only one of them
(the CentOS built one) includes:

dag repo and perl dependencies naming
Hi
I'm trying to install amavisd-new from dag repo on centos3.
In the spec file perl dependencies use parenthesis: perl(Digest::MD5)
it also uses '-': perl-MailTools
The problem is that only the second notation is available: perl-MD5
I know this is an old problem. Is this only centos related?
Is there a workaround?
Do I have to modify the spec file? I'd like to use yum...

Yum thing
Hi,
As there is no (decent) way to specify a particular repo for an
particular package with yum, I'm having an odd problem: Although
the version numbers differ, I have 2 spamassassin pkgs in different
repo's (updates and my own addons) which are seen as updates to
eachother:

Installing perl modules using yum?
I'm trying to install swatch using rpmbuild.
I'm getting dependency errors saying that I need perl(Date::Calc),
perl(Date::Format), and perl(File::Tail).
I've been beaten over the head in this group for using CPAN. So
methodology do I use to I install those modules?

CPAN module install problem
I could use some assistance getting CPAN functional again. CPAN stopped
working on Centos 4.2 x64, and I can no longer install modules. I did a
install Bundle::CPAN and upgraded to 1.8.2, and perl was updated
afterwards via yum update. The error seems related to GPG, does anyone
know if 1.8.2 added new restrictions on signatures?

How come rpmforge.repo wants to install a whole slew of perl modules,
yet if I leave rpmforge.repo out of the update process, none of the perl
modules shows up? Here's the rpmforge.repo file.. do any of yall see
anything wrong with anything in there?
