Help optimizing EMD::extrema()
Hi folks,
I'm attempting to use the EMD package to analyze some neuroimaging
data (timeseries with 64 channels sampled across 1 million time points
within each of 20 people). I found that processing a single channel of
data using EMD::emd() took about 8 hours. Exploration using Rprof()
suggested that most of the compute time was spent in EMD::extrema().
Looking at the code for EMD:extrema(),

Thank you Rui. I ran the following script

R command line
Hi!
Is there a Gui for R with improvements in the command line? I'm not looking
for buttons, menus and etc, but (more) colored syntax, auto-complete
commands and etc?
Best regards,

C++ code from R
Hi
I managed to compile (and use) C code from R, but now I have to use C++ code.
After reading "Writing R extensions", I came up with the following
code, which compiles fine

// emdL1_R.cc:
#include <time.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include "emdL1.h"
extern "C"
{
void emd_L1(

same separation. Example:

The Future of R | API to Public Databases
Dear R Users -
R is a wonderful software package. CRAN provides a variety of tools to
work on your data. But R is not apt to utilize all the public
databases in an efficient manner.
I observed the most tedious part with R is searching and downloading
the data from public databases and putting it into the right format. I
could not find a package on CRAN which offers exactly this fundamental

RFC: A proposal for vectorizing loops with calls to math functions using SVML
RFC: A proposal for vectorizing loops with calls to math functions using SVML (short
vector math library).
=========
Overview
=========
Very simply, SVML (Intel short vector math library) functions are vector variants of
scalar math functions that take vector arguments, apply an operation to each
element, and store the result in a vector register. These vector variants can be
generated by the

Box Plot outliers label
Hi!
How can I add labels in the outliers inside a boxplot.
Here is my code, at now:
mun <- as.data.frame(read.csv2("consolidada_v3.csv"))
micro <- mun$nmicro
medprop <- mun$medprop
mimedprop <- split(medprop, micro)
boxplot(mimedprop, col="chartreuse3", main="Área média das propriedades

Recode
Hi!
Using recode in cars package, I tryed to use the following:
recode(data$nrcomp, "lo:5='0 to 5'; 5:hi='bigger than 5'")
I got:
Erro em parse(text = strsplit(term, "=")[[1]][2]) :
unexpected end of input in "'0 to 5"
When I try only numbers, or only text, it's ok, but when I try to combine
numbers and text, I got a error...
Any help?

No subject
We are looking for another solution besides Samba, which will allow our
application developers using Windows 95/98/NT to access share on our Sun Box
running Solaris 2.6 operating systems. Our supervisor feels the Samba
installation process is more complex than what we really need.
Any suggestions?

Variables inside a for
Hi!
I had a database with some variables in sequence. Let me say: TX01, TX02,
TX03 and TX04.
But I need to run some regressions changing the variables... so:
variable <- paste("TX0", 1:4, sep="")
for(i in 1:4){
test[i] <- lm(variable[i] ~ INCOME, data=database)
}
But doesn't work... lm tries to find a variable inside database named
variable[i] ...
Suggestions?

RFC: A proposal for vectorizing loops with calls to math functions using SVML
Hi Sanjay,
For sincos calls, I’m currently just going through isTriviallyVectorizable(), which was good enough to get things working so that I could test the translation. I don’t see why this cannot be changed to use addVectorizableFunctionsFromVecLib(). The other functions that I’m working with are already vectorized using the loop pragma. Those include sin, cos, exp, log, and pow.

data frame to workspace
Is there a way to import a data frame into a workspace? I created a data
frame and from my understanding, a data frame is a type of object, and that
the workspace stores the current session's objects. Wondering why my data
frame is not showing up...
Any thoughts/suggestions?

I''ve started working on a new tool that should help with modifying the
configuration of a system under the control of puppet. The tool is
called cft (pronounced ''sift'') and is inspired by Gnome''s Sabayon[1] in
taht it watches how an admin changes a system and spits out a puppet
manifest based on its observations.
