qplot in ggplot2 not working any longer - (what did I do?)
This is the first time that I have tried to update packages with a tinkered around with .Rprofile. I start R with R --vanilla and it does not load my .Rprofile, but when I issue the command update.packages() R downloads the packages as expected, but then seems to load .Rprofile before compiling the packages sources. What am I doing wrong? kindest regards, Stephen Sefick see- Session info

Problem with new version of R: Mutated vocals
Dear ladies and gentlemen, I have recently installed the latest version of R (4.3.3) for windows. Now I have the following problems with mutated vowels like ?, ?, etc. Here is an example: If I type the command: Dir <- "C/Users/macho/Documents/_LVn/Experimentelle ?bungen" in the R console there is no problem. However, if I put the same command into a source file (e.g. Test.r) and call

source problem
Hi, I'm trying to call an R script from the command-line ("firstScript.r" below). This script then sources another script in another directory using the absolute path to the file ("/home/john/R_script/secondScript.r"). That script then needs to source an R script in the same directory using a relative path ("thirdScript.r"). Neither script should know that it

Calling Rscript from Makevars
Hi, I am trying to package some code to use with R and wanted to call Rscript from within the Makevars file (I am trying to automate the setting of the location of a third party library depending on what is available / the system the package is being installed on). If I just have a simple Makevars containing PKG_LIBS= -lnag_nag -L/fserver/nagprod/FL22/fll6a22df/lib the package is built

Analysis of Dispersion
Does anyone know of an R implementation of Rao's (1965) described 'Analysis of Dispersion' which is the generalization of the General Linear Model, Y = XB, to multiple Y variables and the further use of the method to 'Test of Additional Information' in one set of Y variables corrected for a second set of Y variables, i.e. the generalization of covariance analysis. I have

Hi Stephen, Thanks again for getting back to me, Ivan Krylov responded also and suggested windows binaries and I must confess I was only familiar with installing from files via the package sources (apart from the conventional install.packages method), so the solution was as simple as installing via the binaries. Thanks again, best wishes, James From: stephen sefick <ssefick at gmail.com>

Hello s/r users! I've been digging around in the s- and r-mailing lists, but i actually didn't find any answer to my question. So here it is: How can i realize the following: myexec | R r_script > outfile.txt with myexec some executable writing data to stdout "cat data.txt" can serve as a test R

creating axis of the plot before data are plotted -- solved
Solved. I tried to create a minimal example, but my script is too complicated to just cut out lines (too many dependencies). Instead of it, I sketch my idea. I do not say it is the nicest solution, but it works as I wanted. The first five rows of my data-matrix: > data_svd$u[1:5,] [,1] [,2] [,3] [,4] [,5] [,6] [,7] 25.12333 -0.05845695

Converting monthly data to quarterly dataMonday, August 18, 2008 11:38 AM
Dear Gavin, This is really great, thank you! I created some long loops to get rid of extra months at the beginning and the end of my data but your code is great for putting it then together quarterly. thanks again, Denise On Mon, 2008-08-18 at 14:31 +0100, Denise Xifara wrote: > Thank you very much Stephen, but how will aggregate deal with months that > fall outside annual quarters? eg,

text editor for R - summary on R-WinEdt
I implemented Uwe's R-WinEdt package as a closer to true WinEdt mode so that WinEdt could be used with other modes as well. I sent Uwe the implementation and we talked a little about cleaning it up, but I haven't gotten around to it and I don't think he has either. It is still a little messy as Uwe noted below but it works well. There is no code changes, just running a WinEdt macro

Warranty on Accuracy, Precision, Legality, ... of R in Research (These questions may well have been raised.) What is the implied warranty of using R for research & publications, consulting, etc.? Alternately, how does one obtain such a warranty? Your answers will be much appreciated. Perhaps you can point me to some websites which discussed this subject in the past. Thanks & regards

R-help ordinal regression
Dear colleagues, i am carrying out an ordinal regression model. I try it on SPSS but I "flirt" with R as well. I have a few questions. 1. What is the most reliable/tested/trusted package for ordinal regression in the R world? 2. Also, I have a statistical question. What is the danger of having to many 'empty cells' in ordinal regression? How many empty cells are too many? Do
