Part of density plot not showing up
I am doing a histogram with 2 superimposed densities. However, the density of one of the graphs is not coming out..its being erased.. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? -- Thanks, Jim. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

How to superimpose a histogram and density plot
NCSS has a nice plot of the histogram and density plot superimposed. The S-PLUS 4 Guide to Statistics on page 45 suggests the following code for a general purpose density plot for a vector named data iqd <- summary(data)[5]-summary(data)[2] plot(density(data,width=2*iqd),xlab="x",ylab="",type="l") Is it possible to superimpose the density plot on a histogram

superimpose histogram on biplot
Hi all, I've been trying to figure out how to superimpose a histogram on a biplot that shows the relative contribution of each axis. I have been using the NIPALS function (http://biomserv.univ-lyon1.fr/~dray/ files/softwares/nipals.R) to run principal component analyses. Here is a toy example. source("http://biomserv.univ-lyon1.fr/~dray/files/softwares/nipals.R")

trying to superimpose a line plot onto a histogram
Hello, I'm trying to superimpose a line plot onto a histogram but I'm not having any luck. I've attached the dataset. What I did was: > hist(data, freq=F) Now I'm trying to superimpose the following points with a line connecting them onto the histogram: x y 100 0.535665393824959 200 0.212744329736556 300 0.0844933242968584 400 0.0335572838043417 500

superimpose histogram and fitted gamma pdf
Hi r-users,   I try to draw histogram (in terms of probabilty) and superimpose with the gamma pdf. Using this code below I can get the plots BUT the y scale for the density is out of scale.  How do I change the y-axis scale to max 1?  Another thing, how I do draw smooth line rather that points?   Nota that my observed data is hume_pos and the fitted data is rgam1.   hist(hume_pos,prob=TRUE)

Lattice: Superimposing histograms with different colors and transparency effects
Dear users, I would like to plot several histograms superimposed on the same panel with different colors, with superimposed polygons appearing with transparency effects. I also want estimated densities to appear on the same plot. For several reasons, including that I like it, I want to use the lattice package. I have several questions regarding the use of the 'histogram' function with a

Superimpose Histograms
Hi all, I have data which is represented as a histogram and want to add more data / another histogram to this plot using another color. That is I need to superimpose multiple histograms. But have no idea how to do this. Can anybody please give me a hint? Thanks, Andreas -- Andreas Wilm Institut fuer Physikalische Biologie Heinrich-Heine-Universitaet Duesseldorf

Histogram
I have a column of 1000 datapoints from the normal distribution with mean 2 and variance 4. How can I get a histogram of these observations with 20 bins with each bin having 50 observations? -- Thanks, Jim. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

How to adjust y-axis when using panel.densityplot within histogram function
Hi I would like to superimpose group-specific densityplots on top of an overall histogram using panel.histogram and panel.densityplot. Furthermore, I would like to automatically adjust the range of the y-axis to take into account the ranges of both histogram and densityplot. This last part is where I have a problem. I believe using the prepanel argument of histogram is typically the way to go,

Problem with plot histogram
Hi R-users, I'm trying to built a plot of two series of data, but thees series result "superimposed". The R-code is like this: goal <- c(125, 143, 81, 26, 2, 3) numgoal <- 0:5 lambda <- sum(goal*numgoal)/sum(goal) plot(numgoal, goal, type="h") x <- 0:5 y<-dpois(x, lambda) att<-y*380 lines(x,att, type="h", col="red")

Wishlist: specify the border color of boxes in legend() (PR#13913)
I could not find a way to specify the border color of the boxes drawn in a legend, so that the legend can match exactly the colors of the actual plot (e.g. in the case of two superimposed histograms which have different shading and different borders). Indeed, the legend function seems to hard code the color "black" for the borders in this call: rect2(left = xt, top = yt +

Superimposing y-variables in Lattice formulas
Given a data frame of a categorical variable and two continuous variables, I would like to display one continuous variable against the other for each value of the categorical variable, all superimposed on the same plot. How to plot Histogram with frequence overlaid by distribution curve
Hi, I am facing the problem that I want to plot a histogram chart set freq to true and overlay with normal or weibull or exponential distribution curve. The sample code is shown as below: >samp<-c(-8.2262,-8.2262,-8.2262,-8.20209,-8.09294,-8.07321,-8.07321, -8.07321,-8.07175,-8.04948,-8.04948,-8.04948,-8.03848,-8.03848,

superimpose density line over hist
Hi all, I'm trying to superimpose a rchisq density line over a histogram with something like: hist(alnlength) lines(density(rchisq(length(alnlength), 4)),col="red") But the rchisq line won't appear anywhere, Anyone knows what I am missing here? Thanks in advance, Albert.

Histogram with two groups on the same graph (not on separate panels)
I have been trying to produce a histogram that has two groups (male and female snakes) on the same graph (either superimposed or each frequency bar appears side by side). I found a couple of functions for superimposed histogram written by other people. The below is the codes I used for my data containing a column of svl (body size; snout-vent length) and another column of sex (male or female).

Histogram with two colors depending on condition
Dear List, Say, we generate data like this- dat<-rnorm(1000,1,2) hist(dat) How do i make the histogram, say, red (col = 2) before X = dat = 0, and rest say, green (col = 3) beyond X = dat = 0 in R? The resulting histogram could be like this http://ehsan.karim.googlepages.com/histogram.JPG (edited) Thanks in advance. Ehsan http://ehsan.karim.googlepages.com/diaryofastatistician

superimposing histograms con't
Earlier, I posted the following question: I want to superimpose histograms from three populations onto the same graph, changing the shading of the bars for each population. After consulting the help files and the archives I cannot find out how to do this (seemly) simple graph. To be clear, I want - a single x axis (from -3 to 18) - three groups of bars forming the histograms of each population

Plotting frequency curve over histogram
Hello, This is a problem for which there seem to be several solutions online, but not really. My question was about plotting a curve over the histogram. All the previous posts and messages talk about generating a *density histogram*using (freq=F) and then plotting the density curve. However, I find that that seriously distorts my data and the plot becomes confounding to the viewer. I was
