Export a plot/figure to excel or word?
Hi all, I have created forest plots using the package "meta" that I submitted as pdf for publication. I just received an email from the editor asking me if I could send these files in an Excel or MS Word format such that they can treat them as tables with box plots. I am not sure if I can do this... Is this possible? I've tried the capture.output command, but I get a blank MS Word

Polishing my geom_bar for publication
Dear list, I am new with ggplot2 and I have spend quiet some time putting together the following code to create the attached plot. However there's still a few things that I'm having trouble with! I would be grateful if someone can tell me how to fix (1) the colour of my bars into grey scales (2) removing the y-axis (species name) on the right figure to avoid duplication, and (3) fix the

R command system under Windows
Hi, I am trying to use the R command "system" under windows (XP). If I try the simple command system("mkdir toto") to create a directory toto, it tells me that it cannot find the command mkdir... Does anybody knows how it works ? Is it a path problem ? Maybe the answer is simple: I am a R user under Unix/Linux and I don't know well R under windows. Thanks ! Aurelie

OT dovecot w/postfix, mysql , postfix does unnecessary lookups
I know this unnecessary lookups question is really a postfix one, but I'm curious if anyone else sees the behaviour of postfix continuing looking up users after it clearly have got its answer that it is "not a local domain" response. (this msg is an extract from what I sent to WV some time ago, with him showing absolutely no interest, I got bored tonight so thought I'd throw

R: Colouring phylogenetic tip labels and/or edges
Hi, I have reconstructed ancestral character states on a phylogeny using MuSSE in the diversitree package and plotted the character state probabilities as pie charts on the nodes. I would, however, like to colour the character states of my extant species, i.e. the tip labels, the same colours as my pie charts, such that all species in state 1 are e.g. blue, species in state 2 red and species in

multiple nesting levels in GEE

I order my dataframe by both mother and litter I try several syntaxes: id= mother*litter which give the same correlation matrix as id=

bristuff hangup issue
hi, Just wanted to inform everyone, if you're using the latest bristuff's you might (depends on the country!) have hangup issues. The issue appears every time you dial an external number, and hangup after letting it ring for a few times. Then the remote party keeps ringing. In some situations (we only encountered this while dialing to other * servers) it keeps the line open on the

Do i need multiple mongrel instances for good performance?
I have developed a rails application for my company. It will be used by upto 3o people at a time. I have just read that Mongrel will only process 1 request at a time (rails is only in 1 controller at a time). Does this mean that to get good performance i need to run mongrel many times on different ports? How many different instances of mongrel is recommended? If this is true then it
