Is: Xen 4.2 and using 'xl' to save/restore is buggy with PVHVM Linux guests (v3.10 and v3.11 and presumarily earlier as well). Works with Xen 4.3 and Xen 4.4. Was:Re: FAILURE 3.11.0-rc7upstream(x86_64) 3.11.0-rc7upstream(i386)\: 2013-08-26 (tst001)
Hey, I have a nighly build/test system that boots various machines with upstream Linux and randomly selects Xen 4.1, Xen 4.2, Xen 4.3 and unstable. After a bit of digging I found out that Xen 4.2 ''xl'' (but not ''xm'') has some badness in it. When "migrating" (''xl'' save followed by ''xl'' restore'') the PVHVM

booting from HVM (?pv?)
Hi, I''m the Mageia XEN packager and during QA, we stumbled into a problem. in fact, we wanted to test Mageia 3 installation on a HVM. so, we had a sparse image and a iso file: [ ''file:/opt/testhvm.img,sda,w'', ''file:/opt/mageialive.iso,hdb:cdrom,r'' ] the live booted, and was able to install to disk, but it never seemed to boot after the install...

pvhvm on debian
hello, I know this not quite a xen problem but im sure a fair number of people are using debian for their dom0 and maybe have some insight into this. I have a large number of dom0''s running squeeze and for a long time i was hoping for pvhvm to make into the official debian xen packages and recently during some periodic updates I noticed pvhvm working after a kernel package update. Now

PVHVM example for xen 4.3.1
Hello, I'm looking for an example configuration for a PVHVM domU that works with 4.3.1. The one at http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Xen_Linux_PV_on_HVM_drivers causes 3 warnings and some errors: WARNING: ignoring "kernel" directive for HVM guest. Use "firmware_override" instead if you really want a non-default firmware WARNING: ignoring device_model directive. WARNING: Use

xen_platform_pci
I tried setting xen_platform_pci=0 on my test ubuntu 11.10 livecd VM hoping it would run in HVM only mode, but the guest''s logs showed it detecting the Xen host and loaded the PV netfront driver (after modprobe). Is this expected behavior? Is there no way to force HVM only and not PVHVM or total PV? Setup: Xen Unstable Qemu Upstream Thanks, David

I have a problem with PVHVM guests when save/restore
Hello users, I have a problem when I save/restore a PVHVM guest. I installed xen-4.1.2 on my server. And I run a PVHVM guest on LVM. And my PVHVM guest is ubuntu-12.04.2-desktop. Actually when I save a machine, it acts fine. (Of course, when I saved it, There were some processes like movie player) But, When I restore it, It seems more slow. Additionally, machine finally die after a while. I

Phoronix Xen vs KVM vs Virtualbox benchmark with Ubuntu 11.10
Hello, http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=ubuntu_1110_xenkvm&num=1 Ubuntu 11.10 with Xen 4.1.1 and Linux 3.0. Xen seems to be doing very poorly on that benchmark. If someone has time to repeat that benchmark it would be good.. Comparing the results to those from Stefano from XenSummit 2011 NA there has be something wrong.. the results at XenSummit were pretty much the

Xen 4.x / Linux 3.x (dom0 and HVM domU) and NIC handling
Moving to public discussion... This was found with Xen hypervisor version supporting device unplugging and the domU kernel having net-/blkfront and pci platform built-in (or as module). The block device is defined as hda and the NIC type=ioemu (so theoretically guests without pv support would work, too). Since both drivers are present, the kernel tries to unplug the emulated devices and

passthroughed msix device
Hi maintainer, Reprodue an bug on xen-unstable, it''s an irq affinity issue for passthroughed msix device to uek1 pvhvm(2.6.32 stable). I passthrough two mptsas devices(0000:0d:0.0, 0000:1f:0.0) to a pvhvm, irq affinity can''t be changed. Step to reproduce is as below: 1. xl -f pci-assignable-add 0000:0d:0.0; xl -f pci-assignable-add 0000:1f:0.0 2.xm cr -c vm.cfg

[PATCH v2] xen: fix initialization of wallclock time for PVHVM on migration
Call update_domain_wallclock_time on hvm_latch_shinfo_size even if the bitness of the guest has already been set, this fixes the problem with the wallclock not being set for PVHVM guests on resume from migration. [GIT] Xen pvhvm driver, emulated device unplug fixes
Hi Linus, These patches make it possible to inhibit the Xen emulated device unplug on the kernel command line (mostly "Just In Case") and renames xen_emul_unplug=ignore to the clearer xen_emul_unplug=unnecessary. Since it changes the name of a command line option we''d like to get it in before 2.6.36 proper. The third changeset is a pure cleanup which you could ignore for

[PATCH] xen: fix initialization of wallclock time for PVHVM on migration
The initial values of the wallclock time in the shared info page are set for PVHVM guests when the hypercall page is initialized, since the hypercall page is not reinitialized on resume, the hypervisor wallclock time is not properly set on resume. Fix it by forcing an update of the wallclock values when the shared info page is mapped. Signed-off-by: Roger Pau Monné <roger.pau@citrix.com>

Xen Balloon Driver on PVHVM CentOS6
Hi List, I'm trying to work out the balloon driver on CentOS6 HVM but it seems to be not working with default 2.6.32 or newer 3.4 kernel. Does balloon driver work on HVM linux guests with Linux Kernel 3.4 from centos repo ? PV is fine and is able to balloon. My host is Xen 4.1.2 with dom0 as 3.4.46-8.el6.centos.alt.x86_64 My guest is CentOS6.4 with kernel 3.4.46-8.el6.centos.alt.x86_64
