R installation
Hello!
I am trying to install R and its says there is an error with the software. I am using the link for Mac OS the most recent version on the website because my Mac OS is M1 and 13.2 version. I am able to download it but then when I install it it says they?re an error with the software that caused the installation to fail. I was wondering what I need to do to install R?

Ubuntu packages on s390x
Hello,
Are there any plans to add R packages for Ubuntu on other architectures in addition to amd64? We are looking for s390x packages as the version from the distro's package manger is 4.2.2. I'm happy to help in any way I can.
Thank you.

GAM with Locfit components
Hi,
I?m trying to combine the Locfit Package with the Mgcv package (to use
Generalized Additive Models with Locfit components). I read the book
written by Clive Loader where it?s said that, for the S language, you just
have to "load" the locfit package using the command :
Library(locfit, first="T")
in order to use locfit components in an additive model.
But I can?t. I guess

help with rq
I used in 2004 an earlier version of R (1.6.0 ?) for quantile regressions
Now I downloaded version 2.5.1-win32 and I cannot A) read my old files (Our
exel working space was saved in csv) and also the series of instructions
does not work, see below (B) rq function is not recognized)
filename <- read.csv("filename.csv",header=TRUE,row.names=1)

Relationship between covariance and inverse covariance matrices
Hi,
I've been trying to figure out a special set of covariance
matrices that causes some symmetric zero elements in the inverse
covariance matrix but am having trouble figuring out if that is
possible.
Say, for example, matrix a is a 4x4 covariance matrix with equal
variance and zero covariance elements, i.e.
[,1] [,2] [,3] [,4]
[1,] 4 0 0 0
[2,] 0 4

Sparse covariance estimation (via glasso) shrinking to a "nonzero" constant
I've only been using R on and off for 9 months and started using the
glasso package for sparse covariance estimation. I know the concept is
to shrink some of the elements of the covariance matrix to zero.
However, say I have a dataset that I know has some underlying
"baseline" covariance/correlation (say, a value of 0.3), how can I
change or incorporate that into to the

CTDB Question: external locking tool
Folks,
We use a Golang-based lock tool that we wrote for CTDB. That tool interacts
with our 3.4 etcd cluster, and follows the requirements specified in the
project.
Question, does the external command line tool get called when LMASTER and
RECMASTER are false? Given a scenario where we have a set of processes that
have it set to false, then others that have it set to true, does the
locking tool

CTDB question about "shared file system"
Could I impose upon someone to provide some guidance? Some hint? Thank you
Is a shared file system actually required? If etcd is used to manage the
global recovery lock, is there any need at that point for a shared file
system?
In other words, are there samba or CTDB files (state) that must be on a
shared file system, or can each clustered host simply have these files
locally?
What must be

problem booting files with .bin in their name (eg. memtest86+.bin)
It took me forever to figure out why I couldn't tftp boot into
memtest86+, I had the file "memtest86+.bin" installed into my tftproot,
and it was being loaded when I selected that menu item, but it would
result in a series of repeating numbers on the left hand side of the
screen.
Eventually, after trying a million different things, and then asking

CTDB RecLockLatencyMs vs RecoverInterval
Hi
I have a question regarding CTDB RecLockLatencyMs tunable parameter. Is
there any relationship between the RecLockLatencyMs property and
the RecoverInterval property? Does one need to be larger than the other? Or
if RecLockLatencyMs were increased to 5000ms, should some other setting be
changed in proportion?
We're using a geo-distributed etcd cluster for the CTDB recovery lock and I

syslinux 3.72.
How to reproduce:

2. wget
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/syslinux-3.72.tar.bz2
3. tar xvjf syslinux-3.72.tar.bz2
4. syslinux-3.72/linux/syslinux --help

size units in xen-create-image, and other newbie doubts
Greetings,
I'm fiddling with Xen at home, the dom0 is a freshly installed Debian
stable (current 6.0.6 squeeze) using LVM over RAID.
I want to use two VGs, so the pointy-clicky won't really do since
--lvm only takes one argument (i assume). That's no big deal, i can
use LVM tools and even the partitions.d scripts xen-tools can use and
provide a partition template through the

SYSLINUX 3.72 released
Well, it has to happen at some point, so I have officially pushed out
SYSLINUX 3.72. The big news in this release is of course the ISOLINUX
hybrid mode support (a single image which can be booted either from a
CD-ROM or from a hard disk/USB stick), but there are plenty of more
goodies in here, including the label listing (not technically
completion) on the Tab key.
As usual, huge thanks to

isolinux failing on serial console
Hi,
I have a problem with isolinux failing to boot a kernel whenever I navigate
and trigger the menu via serial console. My test machine is a DL585 G2,
with iLO2. Navigating and booting the kernels off of the video console
works 100% of the time. With the serial connection however, I _sometimes_
get a "menu.c32: not a COM32R image" error. Sometime it works fine. I
suspect the serial
