Bug-report: Booting DOS images from USB
Hi, I'm doing a small hobby project writing some tools to put DOS boot images and Linux rescue images on a USB stick. For this I have partitioned my USB stick in 2 partitions, one 192MB partition with a VFAT filesystem (for the normal use) and a second partition with an ext3 filesystem. My aim was to provide a graphical menu (grub) to access the different images using memdisk. Since

CentOS 5.3 Anaconda nic device ordering
I have a bunch of HP BL465c G5 blades, with additional dual-port network adapters. The onboard interfaces use the bnx2 driver, while the expansion card uses tg3. All 4 interfaces are detected by both Anaconda and the installed system, but Anaconda is reversing the ordering: Anaconda: eth0 Card 2, Port 1 eth1 Card 2, Port 2 eth2 Card 1, Port 1 eth3 Card 1, Port 2 BIOS and Installed Kernel:

Syslinux keyboard mappings
Hi, I finally want to end the fights we have had in the past with keyboard mappings. I already curse the person who is responsible for this keyboard mess (and even more the persons who could have create a 'detect keyboard' kind of functionality in modern PCs :)) But the general problem is this, BIOSes are US qwerty, Belgium uses be-latin1 (azerty with lots of custom keys). And to

Lilo for CentOS 5?
Does there exist a version of Lilo built for x86_64 CentOS 5? It does not seem to be on the DVD. *I* really, really, prefer Lilo over Grub. -- Robert Heller -- 978-544-6933 Deepwoods Software -- Download the Model Railroad System http://www.deepsoft.com/ -- Binaries for Linux and MS-Windows heller at deepsoft.com -- http://www.deepsoft.com/ModelRailroadSystem/

MeetMe() and dahdi_dummy on an embedded system
I'm playing around with an ALIX 2D2 board (http://www.pcengines.ch/alix2d2.htm). It's a fanless, x86 system using an AMD Geode processor with 256MB of RAM. Also available are two network interfaces, two USB ports and one serial port (no keyboard or VGA). I'm using the Voyage Linux distro, which basically is Debian Lenny optimized for this board. Asterisk 1.6.1.12 runs fine on the

Asterisk on Pcengines Alix board
Hi all, I have successfully compiled and installed Asterisk on an Alix board (AMD Geode 500 Mhz + 256 Mb RAM) on top of Voyage linux (a Debian variant). I'm using it at home for a month. I wondered how much it could be loaded, so I tested it with pbx-test: I could place up to 15 simultaneous SIP calls before it got no more responsive. All in all a good, stable and cheap solution for home

Having Trouble Creating an IVR
I have asterisk 1.0.5 installed via apt on a debian system. It's a custom distrobution called Voyage Linux that runs from a flash card and I have a hard drive installed with mysql installed on it as well as apache. I have been though the AMP install guide (asterisk management portal) and in the interface it has a place for me to record new IVR menus. I have to dial *77 to begin recording

Introduction
Hi, I'm a 40-year old sysadmin living in Montpezat, a small village in the sunny south of France. I'm a Linux user since 2001, when I made my first steps on a 486 with a Slackware 7.1 CD. I've tried maybe two dozen distributions, but I've stayed mostly with Slackware and Debian. Since last summer, I work as a sysadmin for our "Communaut? de Communes", a group of 16

Clone a custom CentOS 7 desktop using G4L over FTP
Hi, A couple months ago, I migrated our local school (two servers, 20 desktop clients) from Slackware 14.1 to CentOS 7. The desktop clients are running a customized lightweight desktop based on Xfce: https://blog.microlinux.fr/poste-de-travail-xfce-centos-7/ Home directories are all on the server, and authentication is centralized. Everything works fine so far. With Slackware I had found a

Returning to syslinux bootloader
Hi, I was wondering whether it is technically possible to go back from eg. DOS or Linux directly to the bootloader (instead of rebooting the hardware). We currently have 2 images (one DOS and one Linux) that need to be started before loading a system. They do things like disable PXE on NICs (using an Intel DOS tool), verify the correctness of the network patchings and validate if the

I intend to release SYSLINUX 3.73-pre7 as SYSLINUX 3.73 as soon as possible. Please let me know if there are any outstanding bugs with 3.73-pre7 that either haven't been reported or I have forgotten about... it's been a while. -hpa

AD authentication problem
I'm having a problem authenticating to Active Directory. I can join the machine to the domain, wbinfo -g/-u will list the groups and users and I can map a drive using: smbclient -k //s-lorentz.s-res.uva.nl/c\$ However when I try to get the linux machine to authenticate a user it doesn't work giving the error NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS (0xc000005e). Looking further in the logs it fails

How fouled-up can you get??
I subscribed, and am getting emails hand over fist. They'll bust my inbox quota if I miss a day. I went to the web site for my subscription and tried to disable delivery; I'll follow this list on gmane or not at all -- and that works with every other mailman list I've tried. It wouldn't let me -- kept reverting to the password screen; I kept giving it the password, and making the

EL6: Hard Disk upgrade howto?
I have a tested copy of EL6 that I would like to duplicate to a number of similar servers, but can't seem to find a sane howto on the subject. TLDP's "Hard disk upgrade howto" is embarrassingly antiquated: when's the last time you saw LILO? What's the recommended procedure for doing an HDD copy/upgrade from one disk to another? Is there a nice, detailed howto that
