Availability of a variable of the TFTP server IP addressto be used in pxelinux.cfg/default
Hello Shao, Thank you for your hint. I saw this one already earlier but I wanted to avoid it for two reasons: - One of my images uses a CPIO INITRD which I found rather complicated editing (like I wrote I'm quite new to all that Linux stuff). - For each new release I will need to do the changes to the prebuilt images again. I'm not the one who creates the images. I'm downloading

Availability of a variable of the TFTP server IPaddressto be used in pxelinux.cfg/default
Good day again Michael, You might potentially be interested in linux.c32, as well. Whether you use IPAPPEND or linux.c32, either way I believe that you have to customize the distro to make use of the passed parameters. If you take a look at syslinux/com32/modules/linux.c, you will see that this COMBOOT32 module accepts "-dhcpinfo" as an argument. The behaviour here is that linux.c32

pxelinux server's IP address
Hello, I am experimenting with pxelinux. My setup is currently working. My network card receives IP address from DHCP server, and then it downloads pxelinux.0 and executes it. PXElinux loads its config file ('pxelinux.cfg/default') and is able to download vmlinuz and initrd.gz from TFTP server, and execute vmlinuz. Now the question: is there any way to pass server's IP address as a

What do you which you new about pxelinux?
Hi All, I am going to be presenting a 45 minute session at Linux World in April on how to use PXELinux to provision linux systems, among other things. This probably isn't of value to most on the list, as it is geared towards giving new users a jumpstart on what's needed so that they can get up and going quickly along with some practical suggestions and tips. I'll be

Using DNS in pxelinux.cfg
Hi all, First time here, so please be gentle! :) I'm trying to configure a system that will pxeboot and retrieve a kickstart file from a server based on that host's macaddress as part of my Edison project[0] however I'm having issues getting the dns lookup to work and I'm hoping you can help! My pxelinux.cfg/default file is as follows: ======================= default linux

pxelinux kernel 2.4.20 nfs server is not asked
intel etherexpress pro 100 nics at my lan, server with tftp, nfsserver and pxelinux running for about half a year at my lan. Hi, When I use a kernel v.2.4.20 the pxe boot loads the pxefiles, kernel and then stops asking for files from the server and complains about a "Root-NFS: No NFS server available, giving up." and messages about to insert a disk... ... the same .config used with

odd pxelinux/tftp-hpa problem
I haven't encountered this problem before. This is from a Compaq DL320, with Intel Boot Agent 4.0.17 and tftp-hpa-0.28 running on Solaris. The PXE stack gets its IP address just fine, but it times out on the TFTP. While snooping on the Solaris box and grepping for TFTP, I found that the box gets one block of the TFTP transfer just fine. TFTP Read "pxelinux.0" (octet)

pxelinux
Hello H. Peter, we use pxelinux to start linux on desktop pcs. Now we have a problem with the interaction of dhcp. If the ip address is not fix, we cannot use the ip address as name for the configfile. A better solution would be, first to check for the mac and then for the ip address. Is it possible? TIA, Tobias

PXELinux cfg file problem
Hi I am trying to set up a thin client. I have managed to set up DHCP and TFTP on a Fedora Core 6 server but the problem is when PXELinux on the client tries to load the configuration file. I get the message: Trying to load: pxelinux.cfg/01-00-0c-29-ca-7a-ce Trying to load: pxelinux.cfg/0A000014 etc.. Trying to load: pxelinux.cfg/default Unable to locate configuration file If I use a TFTP

pxelinux 4.03 taking forever to find .../pxelinux.cfg/default
Hi All, It appears the NetApp OnTap tftp server we were using doesn't implement the "OpCode: Error Code (5); Error Code: File not found (1)" response." so we just moved the tftp service to RHEL boxes running HPA tftpd. It's essential for our deployment system to locate the pxelinux config specific to an installation request based on it's MAC address. If the MAC based

Actually, better than expected, as no tftp > file size limit is incurred.

pxelinux.bin (3.80) hanging at the beginning of menu.c32 TFTP transfer
Hi, Using syslinux 3.80, I'm seeing pxelinux.bin hanging after the (succesfull) transfer of the default file. Running a lan trace, it appears that all goes fine until the time pxelinux sends a TFTP RRQ for menu.c32 to the TFTP server, gets the first data packet back, and apparently freezes at this point. The TFTP server then times out and retries (3 times) then finally sends an error packet

pxelinux, pxe requesting bad filename from tftp
Hey, I have a problem booting certain machines with pxelinux. I have pxelinux.0 in the root of my tftp server and dhcp pointing to the right location: # dhcpd.conf authoritative; option domain-name "example.net"; ddns-update-style none; default-lease-time 3600; max-lease-time 86400; subnet 10.0.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 { range 10.0.0.3 10.0.0.20; server-name

Using PXELINUX with Windows 2000 DHCP and TFTP
I noticed some links and suggestions on the SYSLINUX web site that reference how to run TFTP on Windows 2000 Server. Two of them suggest installing RIS, and one of them points to a third-party utility. I don't need to install RIS, because I don't want to run Windows setup over PXE. (In fact, I want to use PXELINUX to boot a DOS floppy and run Symantec Ghost to deploy an image.) Also, I

pxelinux: 2.04 works but 2.09 doesn't
Hi, Recently I upgraded pxelinux.0 from 2.04 to 2.09, after that the pxelinux doesn't correctly obtain server's IP address. The true address is 172.20.0.101, but 2.09 understand it as 172.20.0.11. "0" is dropped. As a result, root nfs-mount is directed to the non existent server. Following is the full screen dump of pxeboot by pxelinux 2.09:

[pxelinux] load image from other TFTP servers?
We are using three different TFTP servers for special purposes besides the main one. Is there a chance to load menu choosen images from the other servers or is it only possible from the tftp server, where the pxelinux.0 was loaded? Most of the images are on the main machine, but for testing and special purposes we'd like to enter the label of the images, which has to be loaded from other
