Dell problems with PXELINUX 3.62
Good day again Daniel,
So the first thing I did was to remove the >NUL for your XMSDSK line and
put a PAUSE after it in AUTOEXEC.BAT. That way, I could see the error
message:
*** XMS RAMdisk v1.9I (FU - 08/98): XMS get free mem error.
Then I noticed that if you run AUTOEXEC.BAT manually from the DOS CLI,
XMSDSK actually succeeds! So that led to a new test: Duplicate the
XMSDSK line.

3.62-pre16: Compiling on old (2.4 kernel) distros
I have put a compile hack in for older distros and pushed it out as
syslinux-3.62-pre16; for those who have reported compilation problem on
older distros I would greatly appreciate if you could confirm if it
works now (it worked for me on a CentOS 3.9 VM.)

SYSLINUX 3.62 released
Hello all,
I have just released SYSLINUX 3.62. This is almost identical to
3.62-pre16, with a small number of changes to the Makefiles and
documentation.
The focus of this release has largely been removing build-in
limitations as much as possible. Quite a bit of work has gone into
it.
I'd like to specially thank my employer, rPath Inc.; I've spent a lot
of time on this I wouldn't

6.03-pre6 minor building suggestions
In Syslinux 6.03-pre6:
_ The txt/html/*.html files are currently created 3 times, one for
each firmware. I think they should be created only once (under the
main txt/html/ directory), just as the rest of the documentation is.
In that case, the <respective_firmware>/txt/html/ subdirectories
should not even be created.
_ The bios/dosutil/ directory contains copybs.com and eltorito.sys,

Ghostcast random freeze.
Greetings again,
I am experiencing a lockup when ghost casting about 1 out of 5 client machines locks up. I don't recall if I was having this issue when I was using 3com pxe menus or not. I was wondering if the issue I am seeing could be caused by pxelinux since it basically is loading a Linux kernel then booting a MSDos.imz file. I cannot find any errors from the ghostcast side or the

Makefiles: includes and rule prerequisites
1) mk/syslinux.mk runs a shell to make a temp file gcc_ok.$$$$.tmp
(perhaps in the wrong directory) while several Makefiles have an
include rule for *.tmp which I believe is causing some occasional
parallel build issues.

tftp pxe and dos
So I have a few questions. I have already made the base part of making a
windows TFTPD running with memedisk. So that part works, but what I was
wondering, if there is a way to some how add an option to the config file.
What I have is something like this:
label winstall
kernel unattended/memdisk
append initrd=unattended/winstall.imz
That all works great, However, for each image, I have

Last call for Syslinux 3.70
Hi all,
I have just released syslinux-3.70-pre25. Unless someone has something
big and scary that either I have managed to miss or was just stumbled
over, I'm going to release 3.70 final some time between tomorrow and Monday.
Thus, *please holler now* if there are any stop-ship problems still known...

[PATCH 0/3] elflink fixes
From: Matt Fleming <matt.fleming at intel.com>
The first two patches in this series are fixes for bugs reported by
someone in #syslinux. The third makes dmitest.c32 actually wait for
user input.
If no one has any objections/concerns, I'll pull this into the
official elflink branch.

MEMDISK issue with OptiPlex GX280,620
Good day to you, too. No worries about the delay. I understand how busy everyone is with SYSLINUX. Gladly, the project continues to develop and improve. With that said, thanks for today's flurry of activity regarding my reported problem.
Impressively, the debug version of MEMDISK that you had directed me to use appears to have done the trick. Results below.

bug or user error - menu.c32 in syslinux-3.62-pre11
Im trying to use newer simple-menu features,
and have found that the following config-file
(closely based on wiki pxelinux example)
- fails for 3.62-pre11,
- works for 3.62-pre10
where 'working' is successive reloads such that re-edits of file are
seen on next reload
and broken is issuing this error:

Migration question: .INBOX?
Hi,
Not much left to fix in my migration script (moving between two dovecot
servers). However, I discovered a mail folder .INBOX without cur, new
and tmp subfolders, and the .imap.index files were rather old (feb
2006). Is this an old relic from early dovecot versions (I once ran 0.99
on this old server)? Or is it old client software? There are no data in it.
TIA,
Peter

Default dirs in ./configure?
Hi!
I try to build a new 1.1.7 installation. Since I'm not a large sysadmin,
just my own private mail server admin, I just wonder why the sysconf and
state dirs defaults to $prefix? Maybe I'm old-school, but isn't /etc and
/var, respectively, a better default than /usr/local? Should require two
new variables in the configure script, though.
(and yes, I know I set them with

Move from 1.0.rc29 to 1.1.7?
Hello!
I am moving my mail from the old server with 1.0.rc29 to a brand new
server with 1.1.7. I use Maildir in both servers. A few questions:
1) The new server has another name, can I just copy the mail files
as-is, will the server name in the file names matter?
2) The new server has a different architecture and different endian, so
I plan not to copy the index and cache files; they seem to

HowTo: Samba with ADS security in CentOS 5
Hello!
I have recently gone through the hassle of trying to get a CentOS 5 server
(no gui) with Samba to use ADS for security. After several days of googling
and trying different howtos I finally got it working, I now want to write a
howto for CentOS 5, Samba 3.0 and Windows Server 2003 SP2.
Basically it's a combination of

Script: Moving Maildirs between servers
Hi,
I just migrated from dovecot 1.0.rc29 to 1.1.7, from Sparc platform to
Intel, it went very well.
In the process I merged folders and excluded folders from being copied.
User rights on folders were kept/set.
I thought I'd share my migration script with you folks. If there's an
interest to put it on the wiki I can do that, but I'm not sure in what
page.
Use it as a starter if you

keeppxe+memdisk+FreeDOS example?
Hi,
I'm trying to get the above working, without success so far: UNDIS.DOS
refuses to load with an invalid NDIS stack message (from memory).
keeppxe has some effect: it reduces the available conventional memory
by 140 kbytes or so... still, the packet driver doesn't seem to find
the interface. Does anybody have a working setup I could look at?
