syslinux: Please provide -m and -a options on Linux
Hi, this is a forward from the debian bug tracking system, http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=595170: "syslinux for Windows provides the options -m (write an MBR) and -a (make partition active). These options make it easy to provide instructions for Windows users to make a bootable USB drive: just run "syslinux -m -a" on the drive, then drop some files on the drive

HDT & Debian ?
On 07/05/2010 08:20 AM, Erwan Velu wrote: > I just saw you get into the mailing list ;) heh :) > Does debian on the road to add HDT ? well, since hdt is included in syslinux, debian has hdt already since a log time (within the syslinux-common package that ships the com32 modules). however, more interestingly, hdt needs to be integrated within the syslinux menu on the installer and live

[PATCH 0/3] tftp-hpa patches from Debian
From: Ron <ron at debian.org> Hi, I've just taken over maintaining the packages for this in Debian, and we've been carrying a couple of patches for a while now that really should have been forwarded since they're clearly not distro specific. I added a third one to that yesterday to fix another autoconf build 'race' seen when doing parallel builds. Cheers, Ron

Still can't mount Samba shares from other Samba server
I am *still* unable to mount shares from a Ubuntu 10.04 server, using a Ubuntu 10.04 laptop. I totally re-formatted both my desktop and my laptop with Ubuntu 10.04 (so that they would be using the same version of Samba). I am using the exact same smb.conf for the 2 machines (less the share definitions, which exist only on the desktop, known as "workhorse"). wbinfo -u, wbinfo -g,

r-base build: failure to convert R-FAQ to pdf
We have received an email in Ubuntu alerting us that something strange was going on during the r-base 2.7.1 rc build (see [1]). It seems that there is an error during the convertion of R-FAQ.texi to pdf. The following excerpt, taken from [2], shows the problem: /bin/sh: line 0: test: too many arguments TEXINPUTS=".:$TEXINPUTS" /usr/bin/texi2dvi --texinfo="@set UseExternalXrefs

Remap not enabled on some builds...
Hi- Here at Columbia Unix Systems Group we experienced difficulty getting tftpd-hpa to build on certain systems (including Debian Woody), and after investigation, my officemate Lev discovered that it is a problem with the autoconf script, not the source code for the application itself. Perhaps others will be helped by this info... Good luck! Erik Dykema Sent by lev at columbia.edu on

mount.cifs and kerberos failure
Hi guys, This seems to be a well-known problem with mount.cifs on Ubuntu 12.04. Unfortunately, although I have applied the suggestions I found with google, I can't seem to be able to get mount.cifs to work with kerberos. I am trying to use kerberos to mount my Windows shares because this is the only allowed secure way in my company to connect to shares. Before anyone asks, I can successfully

[PATCH RESEND] tftp-hpa: Fix build error with GCC 10 due to multiple definition of `toplevel'
Hi When building with GCC 10, gcc is stricter in handling handling of symbol clashes. Fedora, has fixed this with a patch from Dominik Mierzejewski: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/tftp/c/5e2aa55b6802a52ef480d688b3ae4751220f20e0.patch Attaching the corresponding patch for git am. I'm sending the patch which was submitted a while ago to the list. Is there something you wanted to be

USB and serial
Hello, everyone - I have an old Windows app - a ship navigation program - that needs to see GPS input on a serial port (it was written in the pre-USB days.) My laptop, however, has no serial ports - but this same program, when run on a friend's Windows box, can read the GPS info from the USB-connected GPS via the "USB-Serial Driver". This is one of the frustrating bits of this
