[PATCH] memdisk: "safe hook" and mBFT
Two additions to MEMDISK to support OS drivers.
The "safe hook" structure ("Safe Master Boot Record INT 13h Hook Routines")
is a means for an OS driver to follow a chain of INT 13h hooks, examining
the hooks'' vendors and assuming responsibility for hook functionality along
the way. For MEMDISK, we guarantee an additional field which holds the
physical address for the

MEMDISK El Torito Emulation
A very special thanks to H. Peter for finding the time to [at least
partially, if not wholly] scrutinize and merge the El Torito emulation
code for MEMDISK!
I'd like to ask that those who've previously used the stale MEMDISK-ISO
switch to this latest[1] MEMDISK proper and report any failures.
Gert, I believe this version addresses the PloP .ISO trouble you
reported. Could you

memdisk and harddisk image creation under Linux
I read the following about memdisk :
....
For any other size, the image is assumed to be a hard disk image, and
should typically have an MBR and a partition table. The disk C/H/S
geometry is determined by examining the partition table, so the entire
image should be partitioned for proper operation.

I'd like to create a bootable cd, wich boots a linux and some other tools.

ElTorito.sys Scanning Strategy
Good day to all.
Since we've adopted Gary Tong's and Bart Lagerweij's ElTorito.sys (now
modified by H. Peter Anvin and tiny changes from myself), I'd appreciate
if anyone with more El Torito experience might criticize my comments
below and advise as to how they might be wrong. Some of it is off-topic

unloading memdisk
Hi Peter,
I'm using isolinux and memdisk to create a multiboot rescue cd for
personal use as described on Bart's page (www.nu2.nu). One boot item
is to boot DOS 7.1 from Win98SE with a lot of other staff for emergencies.
This DOS bootimage puts all necessary stuff into it's own ramdisk (XMSDSK).
Some progs on the ramdisk needs access to floppy drive A: and unfortunately

RE : SYSLINUX 2.07-pre6 and memdisk decompression problems
Hi,
I tested this version and it works all right ! Thanks a lot for the quick fix.
Do you still want to see the output in order to check everything is OK, or you don't need it ?

memdisk and floppy images on 4801
Im trying to boot memtest86 via pxelinux, memdisk,
I found this advice on http://forum.x86-secret.com/viewtopic.php?t=2906
folks are making the image match a floppy size by one of the following:
dd if=memtest86+-1.xx.bin of=memtest.img bs=360k count=1 conv=sync
or
dd bs=360k count=1 conv=sync if=memtest86+-1.xx.bin|gzip > memtest.gz
I did the former, it did suppress the warning/errors I saw

"raw" and "iso" are not mutually exclusive. I think that perhaps you
meant "HDD versus El Torito emulation." One can do:

KERNEL memdisk
APPEND raw iso

question regarding memdisk, and menu/complex.c or simple.c
has anyone got memdisk to work directly? i mean such as:
add_item("W98 Boot","Windows 98 Boot",OPT_RUN, "memdisk

I have tried various methods, and I get the same results:

problem booting msdos with memdisk
I have the same problem. I can not boot a floppy disk. Once I did it but no longer I can do this. I think there is some problem in the new versions of PXELinux.

Modify memdisk to mask/overlay start of hard drive
I have a somewhat unique problem I am trying to solve that requires me
to temporarily replace the first 63s of the main hard drive and boot
the result. Basically, I am hoping it is possible to modify memdisk to
serve requests for the first 63 sectors from a ram disk and pass other
requests through to the hard drive. There will never be a read
spanning the two, so I don't need it to be able to
