yum install nagios, adding dag repository
Hi,
I'm running an Opteron 64 bit server, and in an effort to re-join it to my
nagios monitoring, I have tried the install nagios via Yum.
When I type:
yum install nagios, or nagios-nrpe, or nagios-plugins, I get:
"Nothing to do". as output.
In wanting to add the DAG repository to my machine, the documentation i've
come across seems vague.
Can someone advise me on either of

missing Nagios dependencies: how to fix on yum?
On CentOS, I am trying to "yum install nagios" (after adding the rpmforge

quite what to do.

nagios_service types and "name"
It seems that the nagios_service type will not write out the "name"
property of nagios service objects. I had thought this was an oversight
or a bug, till I saw this thread:
http://www.mail-archive.com/puppet-bugs@googlegroups.com/msg10387.html
which seems to imply that this is a deliberate "feature". Is this
prohibition on "name" really the desired behaviour?

question on "yum --enablerepo=centos "
I'm installing Fruity for Nagios using the 4.4 Single Server CD and want
to force upgrade PHP 4 to PHP 5 without having to upgrade everything on
CentOSplus.
In order to install Nagios, I have to first enable RPMforge. However,
to use Fruity, I have to use PHP 5, which isn't included in the RPMforge
repository, unless I enable CentOSplus and yum update/upgrade everything
(which I did

As per the installation instructions I ran the commands in the concerned folders of ./configure , make , make install for both the core and the Nagios plugins.
I am not able to figure out the issue behind that it is not working

Dag mirror, yum and repomd.xml!
Hi:
I have a mirror of dag repository
(http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el4/en/i386/dag/) in my intranet which is used
by other servers to install/update rpms. I installed on every remote
server the rpmforge rpm, edit the /etc/yum.repos.d/rpmforge.repo to fit
with my intranet mirror, but when I run yum, I get this error:
#yum -c rpmforge.repo search nagios

yum upgrade perl question
I'm looking to install n2rrd, which requires Perl 5.8.x
(http://n2rrd.diglinks.com/cgi-bin/trac.cgi)
I see that lots of Perl stuff is installed. Do I just need to yum
upgrade perl-libwww-perl-5.78.5 to the latest?
Here's what I have installed perl-wise:
[root at nagios-server nagios2cacti]# rpm -qa | grep perl
perl-DBI-1.40-8
perl-HTML-Tagset-3.03-30
perl-XML-Parser-2.34-5

That's because the 'check_nrpe' command isn't in the nrpe package.
It's in the nagios-plugins-nrpe package. The executable is installed,

./configure -> "libgd unusable" (shall I build from source or scrape and rebuild?)
On a relatively new Nagios 2.x / CentOS 4.x server (only like a week
old), I am experiencing gd(-devel/-progs) problems and am wondering if
I should just scrape and rebuild. Here is my situation:
I installed LAMP+Nagios+NagiosQL and was going to install PerfParse so
that I could have trending info integrated with Nagios. The configure
script would run ok, but would crap out on make &&

perl-Nagios-Plugin-0.35-1.el5.rf.noarch from rpmforge: dependency problem
Hi folks,
I hope this is the right mailing list to ask since on the repoforge
website there is no list or contact information.
I have a problem with updating the perl-Nagios-Plugin package. I have
installed perl-Nagios-Plugin-0.33-1.el6.rf.noarch, and running yum
update leads to:

finding mysql.h & errmsg.h on CentOS?
I am not sure how to modify the config.h script for my CentOS 4.5 box
(running Nagios + NDOutils).
NDOutils seem to compile fine (./configure && make), but I'm having
problems when I try to run the final command in the README file.

Not getting updates?
I installed CentOS 7 late last year to use as my Nagios/Cacti Monitoring
server. Clean install, nothing real complicated just the server version
with no GUI, just command line/SSH.
I have noticed over the last 3 months that I've not had ANY updates when I
run 'yum update'. I have run 'yum clean all' to see if that might be a
problem, and I've made sure the updates repo

Nagios asterisk monitoring
Dear list,
I am trying to configure the nagios plugin called check_sip. I just read the
README file included with the plugin. I follow the readme steps to configure
the plugin, without success. In the nagios web interface I can see (No
output!) In the status information column. If I run the chech_sip plugin
from a linux console, I get

Migrating away from Nagios
I have to rebuild a new Nagios box and thought this might be a good time
to migrate away. I use snmp mostly for everything but with the fork Nagios
endured I wonder about putting any more effort into the project.
I probably should look at OpenNMS again, but the other options I think might
work are Icinga (Should be trivial to migrate) or Zenoss or maybe even Zabbix?
Anyone have experience in

Export variables into other classes
Hi all
I have been pondering this for a while, but not yet seen a clean way
to do it
I have a few puppet classes (apache/ntp/mysql/bacula/nagios/etc)
I would like to generate part of my bacula and nagios configs for each
host based on which other classes that host belongs to (or to put it
another way, I would like to export variables from classes which would
be used by my bacula and nagios
