Samba 3 trusting Windows 2003 (Native Mode)
I have the following situation:
Windows XP (SP2) clients connected to a Samba 3 PDC (3.0.7-2.FC2) on the
domain "MNET".
Also a separate Windows 2003 AD domain "SCH" (using Native Mode).
I want to allow users in the AD domain "SCH" to logon to that domain
from the XP clients by using their existing credentials and simply
choosing the SCH domain in the XP logon

Listen URL is Invalid
Hi;
The listen URL on my Icecast page is invalid and not useable. I am trying to
submit my station to Tunein but they reject it as invalid. It seems it was
changed as I had been previously transmitting fine on Tunein. Thank you

Hi,
On Friday we changed our Telco-Provider (from German Telekom to Mnet) and recieved new Numbers. I changed the extensions in extension conf to match the new numbers. But i always get:

Friendly Reminder: Would you please comment on my findings?
Hi again, Alain,
as Jeremy and Rowland advised to strip down my smb.conf as much as
possible, I haven't yet tried with "hide unreadable = no".
Do you indeed mean to say that setting "hide unreadable = no" on the
Samba *server* might indeed cause a difference in the way the Windows
*client* sends its SMB2_FIND_ID_BOTH_DIRECTORY_INFO commands? This would
mean that

Kodi crashes when trying to browse network
Hi,
I maintain Kodi[1] in RPMFusion[2] and the latest version of Kodi, 18.0, is crashing
when trying to browse the SMB network. The previous version, 17.x, worked fine.
The backtrace shows that Samba was not able to open /dev/urandom, which can't be
true and must be masking another issue. The issue occurs on any Fedora 28 or 29
system (multiple user reports[3]). SELinux is disabled and

mhh - interesting question......
what about combining the power of throttle ( http://linux.die.net/man/1/throttle ) or similar tools (there are some more like this) with rsync ?
via this hint: http://lists.samba.org/archive/rsync/2006-February/014623.html i got a clue how to combine rsync and throttle and gave it a try :
cat throttle-wrap
#!/bin/bash
throttle -k 1 -s 1| "$@"

Listen URL is Invalid
Hey,
All I can say is, it maybe a local network address not one that is
accessed publicly from the net. If this not so, then it might be reaching
out and testing to see if you up and running and can;t connect. Why I could
not tell you other then you ISP might be blocking it or it not open on your
firewall.

Followup: SOLVED Re: Font display problem with Text in UML-Notes of Enterprise Architect (wine-1.1.3 in Ubuntu Hardy)
Hi again,
I was able to solve my problem with installation of the both native RichText
Libraries. This URL pointed me to the solution:
http://ubuntu-virginia.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=4614684
--> sh winetricks riched20 riched30
==> installs and activates both RichText NATIVE Libraries
--> now I can install and use EA without problem

Window can't see Linux share
I have tried every possible configuration suggestion I have found on the net,
but still can't get my windows PC's to see *nix shares (running Kubuntu
9.04 and Samba 3.3.2 with a Gadmin-Samba GUI 0.2.7) and Win2000 and WinXP.
The *nix box can see and use the shares from the various W-boxes, but not
visaa-versa. Here is my smb.conf:

netbios name = Mercury1

Syslinux roadmap, revised
Hi all...
I'm looking once again at the Syslinux roadmap. It seems to me that
we're going to have a very hard time making Syslinux 4.00 be the
full-featured everything-in-C release I had hoped for, or perhaps more
specifically, that it is justifiable to sit on the current
filesystems-in-C code waiting for the rest.
That would probably mean productizing the transitional COM32R module

I have read some of your previous e-mails.
I told you that because we suffered the same strange situation, upgrading
from samba 3.X to 4.X.
Finally, did you, in your many attempts, try to copy those large amounts of
small files with "hide unreadable = no" or not, just to be sure ?

One way Samba
I am running Samba 2:3.3.2 on a Kubuntu 9.04 Linux box. With the

all 5 of my windows boxes. However, none of the windows boxes can see the
linux shares as they are defined in the smb.conf below. The linux box shows
up in the windows network neighborhood as Mercury1 but when I try to open it
to show the shares I get the

com16/com32 module for APM powerdown
Hello,
In case anyone is interested, here are the source code for comboot and
com32 modules for powering down a computer using APM.
I started work on the ACPI version of it, but it will take some time to
parse the spec.

SYSLINUX 2.09-pre2
This version contains a fix to mbr.asm, plus a version of Murali's menu
system, but ported to gcc. Although gcc produces much bigger 16-bit
code (since it's really 32-bit code with prefixes) I figured it would be
much easier for people to deal with since it requires the configuration
to be compiled in.
That being said, it's a *very* powerful menu system, partially *because*

[PATCH] Fix wrong NFS umount path
Hi,
When mounting a NFS share and an error occurs for some reason, the NFS
share is not unmounted correctly: the local path is used instead of the
remote path in the umount_v[23]() call. This patch fixes this.
I found this while debugging some problems mounting the root file system
on NFS in a test system; I saw this in the logs (/mnt/duplicated is the
legitimate remote path):
