Usage output of Syslinux installers is not consequent
Why doesn't the Windows Syslinux installer show: --offset and --directory too (I know it is not supported)? Because the Linux versions show the Windows/dos specific commands: --mbr --active and --force I didn't check the DOS version. If all options will be displayed unconditionally for all installers, it might be a good idea to add: --offset -t Offset of the file system on the

[PATCH] Documentation: introduce the working directory
LDLINUX.SYS uses a working directory. The documentation seems to improve if that fact is made explicit. So the working directory is added to the documentation (with a bit of vagueness and possibly not entirely correct, to keep it readable). Signed-off-by: Paul Bolle <pebolle at tiscali.nl> --- This is a result of today's discussion of a previous patch ("Describe the --directory

Interaction with Windows bootloader
Good afternoon all! I have a project I'm working on that requires Linux to be installed either to its own partition, or to the partition of a host OS (Windows or Linux). One way works, the other way does not... Use Case 1: In this scenario, Linux is installed to its *own* partition as is syslinux (syslinux -i /path/to/syslinux/files). Afterwards, I 'dd' the first 512bytes of that

[PATCH v2] Documentation: introduce the working directory
ldlinux.sys uses a working directory. The documentation seems to improve if that fact is made explicit. So the working directory is added to the documentation (with a bit of vagueness and possibly not entirely correct, to keep it readable). While we're at it, also convert the name ldlinus.sys to lowercase everywhere, even if it's clear its name is used in a DOS context. Signed-off-by:

SYSLINUX 2.10-pre2 is out
I have released SYSLINUX 2.10-pre2. I *really* would like testing reports for this one, especially ISOLINUX, since I've included Knut Petersen's fix for Award BIOSes... Changes in 2.10: * MEMDISK: Handle images compressed with zip as well as with gzip. Some Windows-based image tools apparently generate these kinds of images by default. Patch by Patrick

Install gptmbr with Windows
Oh somehow I never noticed that "bootsecfile" option. That's probably what I need to use. I was looking at the source to see how the --mbr flag works and thought that there should be a way to do the same thing with the other mbr files. SYSLINUX 3.52 released
Hello everyone, I have just released SYSLINUX 3.52, being functionally identical to 3.52-pre10. Changes in 3.52: * Handle capitalized F-key commands in the menu system. * Fix padding error when loading multiple ramdisks. * Workaround for VMware crashing when trying to print a message during early kernel boot (does not seem to work, consider deleting.)
