Feature request
The sshd server has what I think is a serious flaw. There appears to be no way to turn off remote command execution. (someone please correct me if I am wrong). We have a server which uses a chroot jail, and rbash to severely limit what users can do on our system. The remote command bypasses all of that. ie. ssh user at host cat /etc/passwd will display the password file for the live system

Bind data directory borked on update from 5.3 to 5.4
I updated my secondary DNS server from 5.3 to 5.4 today. After the update, named would not start. A bit of investigation found that all of the files in /var/named/chroot/var/named/data had been turned into links to themselves! Fortunately, since this is a secondary DNS, all I had to do was delete the files, replace the root hints file and let everything else copy back over from the master. If

CentOS 6.10 bind DNSSEC issues
Hi, ??? Anyone else had any issues with CentOS 6.10 bind DNS server issues this afternoon. At 16:26 (GMT) had alerts for DNS failures against our CentOS 6.10 bind DNS servers from our monitoring system. DNS (Bind )update via external DHCP ISC
Hi I have Samba4 AD ( V4.8 )environment with Bind 9 on the same serverĀ  and want to have DNS updated from the DHCP ISC server( External) . As we see the the host records and reverse records do not get updated dynamically on the Bind / DNS . Is it not the functionality to have DNS updated as soon as clients log in . If not , then probably we have to follow

ssh and chroot...
I have a RedHat 6.0 x86 server which is serving a number of minor things, which I wish to add shell access to. I'm currently running sshd and am quite happy with it, the exceptiong being that I am unable to make sshd perform a chroot for shell account users. I have been reading man pages and howto's, many of which discuss sshd or chroot, but never the two together. Is this not an

Centos Gotcha: YUM Groupinstall
Folks I have encountered a situation with YUM that isn't what I expected. Let's suppose I want to install a group, call it G. My first question would be -- is the group already installed. Realize all of this is scripted. So, I use yum groupinfo and I see the list of installed groups, and those not yet installed. If group G is in the list of installed groups, one would think that

Installing/Activating GUI for Server Settings
I did a minimal install and then with yum groupinstall, installed http, ftp and samba servers. However the gui server settings are not displayed for these servers. Is there a package that I need to install or do I need to change a setting(s) in a file? In reading "man yum" I did not see a way to find out what rpm's are installed with each group, or maybe I just did not

Overdue upgrade of bind
I am **FINALLY** starting in on upgrading my domain server. Right now it is still on bind-9.3.6 via Centos 5.5. Stepping right up to 9.8.2 in Centos 6.3. I am pretty good with zone files and the like, though I will finally get to tackle DNSSEC (and I can go to the sources Austien, Vixie, and Liu if need be or even the bind list!), but right now I have much more mundane issues. Bind - built in root hints?
Over on the bind-users at lists.isc.org list, I am in a discussion about building the named.zone file, as Centos 6.3 does not provide it. It DOES provide a named.ca which is already old (wrt AAAA records) compared to the named.zone provided by internic. A few contributors have stated that now the hints are built into bind and you can see this with: strings /usr/local/sbin/named | grep
